The debutant and the devil

Chapter 6

Mr Saengtham made sure no expense was spared for his 'little treasure' at his debutant ball. As Pete was the only debutant this evening he would be the only person to dress in white, while the other attendees would dress in black tie attire.
The classical music from the grand ballroom downstairs floated up to Pete's bedroom, indicating the first guests had begun to arrive.
"I think we are done with hair and makeup, we just need to get dressed" Tay said looking proud of himself for the work he had done.
Pete and Tay dressed in their outfits for the evening and turned to inspect the other's outfits with sweet smiles on their faces.
Pete wore an all white designer suit with white bow tie and the pendant his father had given him for his sixteenth birthday. His mother couldn't be here of course, but wearing the pendant made Pete feel she was somehow close by. Tay wore a black designer suit with white shirt and black bow tie.
"Awww Pete. You look stunning. You're gonna knock them all dead looking like that. If we weren't best friends I'd fancy you" said Tay with happy tears in his eyes.
"You don't think it's too much?" Pete asked timidly.
"Are you crazy? You are gonna have everyone after you. All the guys will be fighting for your attention" Tay cried, "great now I have ruined my makeup" Tay moaned while frantically flicking the blusher brush over his cheeks once more, "It's your fault for looking so damn beautiful" Tay said in an accusatory tone then laughing at Pete's stunned reaction.
"Stop teasing me. I'm nervous enough already" Pete said giving his friend a playful nudge with his shoulder.
"Am I finally going to meet your cousin this evening?" Tay quizzed his best friend eagerly.
"Yes but he's running a little late at the company. He will join us later" Pete replied.
"I can't believe him and I haven't met yet. Throughout the years we kept missing each other every time. Either I was away on trips, or he was, now I can meet the hot guy from the photos. You don't mind if I make a move on him do you?" Tay inquired.
"What about Time?" Pete asked.
"What about him?" Tay asked back with a nonchalant shrug of his shoulders.
"I told you, I'm just using Time for sex. That skank has his dick stuck in someone new every week. I don't usually sleep around with other people but your cousin is too hot to ignore" Tay grinned shamelessly.
"Sure, if that's what you want" Pete replied, blushing slightly.
"Cool. Don't worry, I won't cause a scene at your party. I am just so bored with Time thinking I will just hang around for him forever. If your cousin likes me I will ditch Time for good and move on" Tay explained.
"Ok, as long as you don't cheat on my cousin" Pete agreed.
"That won't happen if he and I start anything. I respect you and your family too much to cause any trouble for you all" Tay reassured his best friend.
Downstairs many guests now filled the grandly decorated ballroom.
All the important members of Bangkok high society had arrived. The Theerapanyakul's, both Major and Minor families were also in attendance minus Tankhun and Macau. Tankhun was busy watching his new drama and Macau was away on a trip with his friends.
Porsche stood guarding at the edge of the ballroom. He was supposed to be watching Kinn but inevitably his gaze was constantly drawn to Vegas. Vegas circulated the room, oozing confidence and conversing easily with anyone and everyone. He already had a crowd of eager followers trailing along after him competing for his attention.
Porsche stared longingly at the man he knew would never be his. The agony he felt inside all week showed no signs of easing anytime soon.
Despite being treated in the worst way possible by Vegas, the feelings of attraction were still present, Vegas was his first love and he would find it hard to move on from him despite the awful way Vegas had treated him.
The sound of a gong echoed throughout the vast room. Mr Saengtham started his speech.
"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for attending this very special occasion. Tonight my youngest son, Pete will make his debut into high society", a round of applause erupted in the cavernous room.
'Pete, finally we can meet' Vegas thought, his body shaking and tingling in suspense.
"With no further delay I now introduce to you all my son, Pete Phongsakorn Saengtham" Mr Saengtham announced before Pete entered onto the balcony where his father was making his speech.
At once gasps were heard around the room as the crowd took in the elegant beauty that appeared before them.
Vegas and Pete immediately felt a primal instinct inside them too powerful to ignore.
Both heard the deafening sound of their heartbeats resonating in their ears as the two hearts started to beat in sync.
"My mate" they both uttered simultaneously as they locked eyes with each other.
Below him standing tall and proud was the most attractive guy Pete had ever layed his eyes upon. The slicked back hair, the round glasses, the strong, broad shoulders and the impeccable dress sense all added to the Alphas' allure. The urge for Pete to race down the grand staircase and jump into his Alpha's arms was almost overwhelming.
On the other hand Vegas wanted to tear up the staircase and claim Pete there and then in full view of the crowd. He couldn't do that, this was a high society social event with numerous judgemental gazes upon them. He hadn't felt this alive in years. The last year especially he had spent in a somber haze. He functioned on autopilot trying to appear as normal as possible, but he always felt dead inside. There had been no joy in his life apart from Macau, that's why he was able to treat people like shit. It didn't affect him when he broke their hearts, or tortured them, he just didn't care.
Oh, what he could do to the angel standing before him. He felt his libido returning with gusto. The sexual desire that had wained lately now threatened to push him over the edge and out of control. His Alpha nature clawed beneath his skin craving to claim his Omega. He managed to control himself when his father's voice made an unwelcome interruption of his lustful thoughts, like a bucket of cold water being dumped over his head.
"Who's your mate? Is it the Saengtham boy?".
"Yes Pa" Vegas answered, never taking his eyes of the breathtaking beauty that stood on the balcony above him.
"You might not be such a disappointing fuck up after all", Kan grinned with glee, "This couldn't be more perfect".
"Pete?" Mr Saengtham said, placing a firm hand on his son's shoulder, trying to rouse his son from his trance.
"Who is your mate?", Mr Saengtham whispered.
"Vegas, Alpha" Pete whispered, mesmerised by the strong, handsome young man standing at the bottom of the staircase.
Pete thought Vegas was beautiful. Vegas was often described as good looking, handsome and definitely sexy, but Pete felt there was so much more lying dormant beneath the attractive appearance.
Mr Saengtham stared down at the heir to the Minor family. He observed Vegas' unwavering gaze fixed on his 'little treasure'. Mr Saengtham smiled to himself, 'Vegas Theerapanyakul, now that boy has potential. His father's a pain in the arse though', he thought.
"Please continue to enjoy the party" Mr Saengtham announced before taking his son's hand and leading him down the staircase towards Vegas and his father.
With each step he took closer to his Alpha, the feelings of want and need grew stronger inside Pete. His blood rushed to his head causing a mild dizzy feeling and his temperature started to rise, the incessant drumming of his racing heart still resonating in his ears. Should this be happening?, he had made sure to take his suppressants earlier.
Vegas, with great effort and self control stood frozen to the spot as the indescribable beauty moved towards him. He tried to control the urge to claim the beautiful Omega standing before him, he could not fuck this up now.
"Mr Saengtham, a pleasure as always" Kan creeped in an effort to impress.
"Kan, I would like to invite you and your son, to my private office. I think we have a lot to discuss" Mr Saengtham smiled.
"Yes, we wholeheartedly accept, thank you" Kan answered respectfully.
Vegas and Pete never broke eye contact as they blindly followed their parents out of the ballroom and down the hallway to Mr Saengtham's office.
Vegas had never felt this way before. He smiled reassuringly at the sweet little Omega, masking the overwhelming carnal urges as his insides pulsed with desire.
They walked closely side by side, the top of Pete's head came up to just under Vegas's chin.
'He's the perfect height to rest his head on my shoulder', Vegas thought. Oh how he wished to feel Pete's head resting on his broad shoulder while he held the Omega close.
Soon they all entered Mr Saengtham's office. "Don't let anyone come near this room" Mr Saengtham ordered closing the door behind them.
"It appears that our sons are fated mates, Kan" said Mr Saengtham kicking off the conversation.
"Yes. I'm very happy it turned to be your son. He seems to be very well mannered and he has both beauty and brains" Kan continued to crawl.
"Pete, this is Mr Kan Theerapanyakul and his eldest son Vegas", Mr Saengtham made the long awaited introductions. "Kan, Vegas, this is my son Pete".
Pete raised his hands and performed a wai to Kan, then turned to Vegas, who took Pete's hand gently and pressed his lips softly to the delicate fingers.
"It's so great to finally meet you" Vegas smiled genuinely while rubbing his thumbs softly over Pete's delicate digits, the skin on skin contact causing a spark of electricity to shoot through both of their bodies.
"It's great to finally meet you too" Pete replied smiling shyly.
That smile. The smile made Vegas' breath hitch.
"We should have a drink to celebrate this happy occasion" Mr Saengtham said ushering Vegas and Pete to sit next to each other on the leather sofa, while he and Kan took a seat in the leather chairs opposite. Vegas held Pete's hand the entire time, unwilling to ever let go. Vegas then straightened his suit jacket with his free hand to conceal the growing erection in his tightly fitted tailored trousers.
Mr Saengtham handed out a glass of celebratory champagne to each person present and took his seat.
"I would like to propose a toast. May you both be blessed with love, happiness and good fortune. May you both get everything you deserve in this life and all the subsequent ones that follow" Mr Saengtham said raising his glass high.
"I second that" Kan concurred. "You make a very handsome couple".
"Thank you Mr Theerapanyakul" Pete said.
"Oh please, if things go well, soon we will become family. Please call me Pa" Kan replied with a smile. Vegas tried hard to disguise his disgust, his father sickened him to his very core. No way would he allow that man to harm his Omega, not when he had waited so long to meet him.
"Ok, Pa" Pete smiled sweetly and Vegas' heart skipped a beat as he took in his Omega's smile.
His Omega, Vegas hardly dared believe the boy he had longed for these five years was actually his fated mate. Vegas recalled Nop's words five years previously, Pete had certainly been worth the wait.
"I promise to always take the best care of your son Mr Saengtham" Vegas vowed.
"Vegas, I told you at your cousin's birthday party to call me Uncle but I think Dad would be more appropriate now" Mr Saengtham smiled.
"Thank you Dad" Vegas said mustering all his courage to say the words out loud. 'Dad' the word sounded strange on his tongue as he had never had a real father figure in his life. The man called Kan Theerapanyakul was his father for the sole reason they shared DNA, but he had never fulfilled the role of a real father.
"I would like to ask you to escort my son for the evening and if you like each other maybe you could go on a date soon. I know you are very busy working with your father but when you are free, you have my blessing to take Pete out for his very first date" Mr Saengtham encouraged.
"He gladly accepts, don't you my boy" Kan interjected, "Don't worry about work, I will clear your schedule for the rest of the week. It will give you two boys the time to get to know one another".
"Thank you Pa" said Vegas before turning to smile at Pete once more.
He felt his palm become sweaty as he had not once let go of Pete's hand.
'Shit, don't sweat all over him, he will think you are a right skank' Vegas thought in panic.
Pete rubbed Vegas' hand and squeezed gently, sensing his Alphas discomfort. Vegas took another look into those beautiful siren eyes, both unable and unwilling to look away.
"That's settled then. I would like to invite you both for lunch tomorrow if you are both free and then if you like you can go out in the evening" Mr Saengtham said.
"We are free tomorrow for lunch and I will make sure Vegas is free for the rest of the week" Kan said.
"Very good" Mr Saengtham answered.
'You are going to have such a shock this week, you lazy bastard. Everyone knows you live off your son's hard work and you claim all the credit for everything he achieves' Mr Saengtham thought to himself.
They returned to the party where Mr Saengtham and Kan Theerapanyakul made a joint announcement that Vegas and Pete were fated mates. The announcement was met with rapturous applause. A majority of people present were happy to hear the news but it sparked jealousy heartbreak in some others.
Porsche looked at the new couple in a daze. He knew this day would come. The day when he would see Vegas become serious with someone, why did it have to be so soon?
He couldn't blame him, Pete was 'out of this world beautiful' and he was just him, just plain old Porsche. He would never be anything special, he was average at best. He had no education, no fortune and ordinary looks, the only thing he was good at was being a big brother to Chay. 'Chay', he thought, 'Chay loves me, he still needs me. I need to carry on for him'. The painful feelings stabbed away at his insides, cutting and slashing away at the tattered traces of what remained of his broken heart. He watched while Vegas kissed Pete's hand and lead him out to the dance floor. His were just one pair of jealous eyes that followed the couple around the dance floor, who flowed in time with the music while dancing a romantic waltz.
After the dance, Pete spotted Amonsak entering the ballroom.
"Would you like to meet my cousin?" Pete asked Vegas shyly.
"Of course, I want to meet everyone who is important to you" Vegas smiled.
When Amonsak spotted Pete on the arm of an unknown Alpha instantly his protective instinct kicked in. Over the last three years Amonsak had protected Pete from predatory Alphas, at times he had acted as a bodyguard as well as a cousin.
"Amonsak, you missed the announcement", Pete smiled radiantly.
"What announcement is that?" asked Amonsak, eyeing Vegas with suspicion.
"This is Vegas Theerapanyakul, my fated mate. Vegas, this is my cousin, Amonsak. He looked after me while I was studying in Britain" Pete said.
"It's nice to meet you, Amonsak. I should thank you for keeping Pete safe for me these past three years" Vegas said eyeing Amonsak for any possible threat.
"It's no problem, Pete is my family and it's nice to meet you too" Amonsak responded.
"Tay, over here" Pete called his best friend over who had just returned from the bathroom with Time at his side.
"You can both meet my best friend, Tay" Pete said excitedly.
Amonsak turned to see the prettiest sight he had ever seen. A petite blond Omega strode towards them with an older looking Alpha at his side. Amonsak locked eyes with the little beauty and found himself pulled towards him by a strong force. Realisation hit them both instantly, "Mate" they both said aloud. Several people turned to look as Tay pushed Time aside and approached Amonsak.
"Babe, come back here" Time attempted to order Tay back to his side.
Ignoring his casual lover, Tay waiied to Amonsak.
"My name is Tay, and you are Amonsak, I presume. I have seen your photo before" Tay rambled nervously. Pete was surprised, Tay was usually so confident.
The attractive Alpha smiled back and said "Yes, I am Amonsak. It's strange we haven't met before, since we are both so close to Pete". He took Tay's hand and kissed it gently.
A volatile cocktail of humiliation, anger and jealousy inside him caused Time to approach the fated mates in anger.
"I don't think we have been introduced" he spat at Amonsak, "I am Time, Tay's boyfriend."
"Ex boyfriend" Tay corrected the arrogant arsehole beside him. "Your dumped. Now jog on and get out of my life, I have been bored of you for a long time".
"You can't dump me. I'm your Alpha" Time scoffed in disbelief.
"I think you will find I am his true Alpha" Amonsak said, squaring up to Time fearlessly.
Time looked around at the numerous faces glaring at him in disgust. Everyone knew his reputation of being a slut and many people resented him for being overconfident and full of arrogance.
"You can leave here while you still have the ability to use your legs, or you can let me escort you out after I break your kneecaps for you. It's your choice" Amonsak growled getting up in Time's face.
Mr Saengtham, Amonsak's parents and Kan Theerapanyakul all observed the events from the nearby buffet table.
"We should really intervene" auntie Lawana said.
"Give Amonsak a moment longer" Mr Saengtham said reassuring his sister in law, "he can handle this".
They quietly observed as Amonsak escorted Time out of the ballroom after Time had tried to drag Tay along to leave with him. Amonsak had Time grasped firmly by the back of the neck with one hand and Time's two hands grasped firmly behind his back in the other hand.
Vegas laughed in glee seeing Time ejected from the party. This was the most fun he had had in ages, seeing that twat Time get publicly humiliated. He tightened his grip around Pete's waist and pulled him closer, getting lost once again in his Omega's eyes.
The rest of the evening was a whirlwind of introductions and frivolous small talk, but this time Vegas found it far more tolerable than before. It was all thanks to Pete, his perfect Pete, who never left his side all evening. Whenever a jealous or backhanded bitchy comment was thrown his way Pete deflected them all with an equally brutal reply and his signature smile, this made Vegas admire him all the more. Pete was exactly what he needed, he was smart, he was beautiful, he could hold his own against haters and he brought a sense of calm to soothe Vegas' troubled soul.
Towards the end of the evening when the festivities were dying down, Vegas and Pete took a walk in the grounds of the Saengtham family mansion. Most of the guests had left, leaving only a few stragglers, who loitered trying to gain an audience with Mr Saengtham so they could improve their business connections.
In the spacious Japanese style garden Pete led Vegas towards the the Koi pond with a little red bridge.
