"Tips for smaller dragons," Starflight said, reading the battle scroll out loud, "If you are a smaller dragon, and you are fighting a dragon of a bigger size, specifically male, get in close underneath them, and kick them in the..." Starflight went silent, his face going red. His gaze shifted to Sunny, and he looked away quickly, shifting his legs awkwardly.
"And what," Glory teased, "what does the scroll say next."
Starflight just stood there, holding the scroll uncertain. Sunny looked from Starflight to Glory, thoroughly confused. Starflight never got this flustered when reading a scroll. The expression on Glory's and even Tsunami's faces showed they clearly understood what Starflight was about to read, even Clay looked a little uncomfortable, but Sunny felt completely in the dark.
"Battle training you fools!" Kestrel suddenly called from the doorway.
Sunny looked up as Starflight began to put the scroll away. She supposed she was never going to find out what was on it. Oh well, anyway, battle training.
Sunny was in the arena facing off against Starflight, dodging as she always did, getting in close and getting in a few quick blows.
"Hey, that was good," said Starflight proudly of her moves.
Sunny suddenly remembered what Starflight had been reading in the scroll earlier, smaller dragons had some sort of advantage.
Then, while dodging one of his moves, she saw her chance, as he swiped at her, she slid onto her back, underneath his underbelly, "get in close underneath them, and kick them in the..." the scroll had said, but kick them where? But Sunny didn't have time to think, she only had this one moment, acting almost on pure instinct, she pulled in one of her back legs, and drove it forward as hard as she could, back towards the spot where Starflight's back legs connected.
She made contact, hard.
Starflight went absolutely still, his breath caught in his throat; his face twisted in agony, going very, very red; his legs began to buckle.
Sunny pulled out from under him, and in an instant he dropped to his knees, clutching where Sunny had just kicked him, roaring in agony.
In an instant, Kestrel burst out a laugh, "Some move you got there Sunny," she said.
Tsunami couldn't wipe the amusement off her face, and while Glory was trying not to show the humor on her face, but it was clear how she felt. Clay was flinching a little watching Starflight self-consciously.
Sunny felt her face going red, obviously she had done something really awkward. Starflight's face was really red through his painful moans, knowing Sunny was watching him go through this. Why did this have to happen in front of her?
"What did I do?" Sunny asked, taking a step back.
"See, when you kick a boy..." Glory said, "Well, you just kicked him in the..." She whispered the word in Sunny's ear.
Sunny's face went red, it suddenly all making sense as certain pieces all began to come together in her mind, "Oh no, I... not in the..." Suddenly, a chuckle burst out, she couldn't help it, "I'm sorry," she said to Starflight, trying not to burst into laughter. She felt so sorry, but this was just too funny. Before anymore could happen, she fled the room leaving Starflight's moaning humiliated form behind, fighting back horrible self-conscious giggles as she went. She now knew how to win a battle in under a minute, and she felt bad for Clay, because she knew she would probably have to try him next. Just once.
A FEW DAYS LATER
THWAK!
Clay let out a roar of pain as he dropped to his knees clutching himself angstily.
"I'm sorry!" said Sunny, face going red, "I just had to see if it'd work."
Apparently it didn't matter the size of the dragon, they all went down just the same.
Starflight stood on the sidelines watching, his face red, he still remembered the humiliation he felt when Sunny had did that to him. He liked her, but it was then he made a note to himself, avoid battle training with Sunny at all cost.
And Sunny, self-conscious as she was, suddenly felt a sense of pride, realizing she now had an upper-talon in the arena.
Clay moaned pitifully.
Yeah, I should probably keep it to a minimum... Sunny decided to herself.
