POV Narrator
(Warning!!! Some brutal and gruesome stuff in this chapter!)
Atalanta had just stared at the girl who she had found only 61 years ago. She was smart that was sure and most would have just told her and nothing more would have been said but she was asking for her blessing. In front of everyone.
Atalanta just scanned the girl who was practically waiting for her and she took the moment to look over her niece. A pang of hurt pulsed through her when she realized she never got to be there for anything.
She didn't know the girl as well as she wanted to and that hurt her soul. She didn't know any of her family. Not truly.
Her eyes landed on the younger girl's stomach and Atalanta couldn't help but rub her thumb across her stomach as it rested in front of it. Her thoughts going back to her pregnant mother. Her...sister...
"Who?" Her voice held no emotion as she made a motion with her hand to have the girl rise to her feet.
"Me."
Leinhart came forward with confident strides and Atalanta snapped her cold eyes to him and Valda looked to the man with worried eyes. He just cupped her cheek with a soft smile before looking at Atalanta.
"What do you plan on doing youngling? Wed her? Make her your wife?" Atalanta asked taking slow powerful steps towards him like a predator eyeing her prey. Her claws lengthened slightly and she eyed him as his eyes shone with a twinge of fear.
"I will. First with the blessing of the next dragon-blood child. Then to a marriage between the two of us. You being her elder and queen, I ask you for your blessing of both." He asked confidently and Atalanta could understand where he was coming from in a way. He was very bold... for a vampire.
She stopped in front of her niece and gently took her face in her hands. Her niece showed no fear as her claws came in close contact with her neck. She trusted her. A soft smile graced her face and she just rubbed her cheek.
"Are you wanting this sweet thing?" She asked in a quiet whisper making Valda looked to her aunt with wide eyes.
She never thought her lady would ask that. She thought she would yell at her or get angry for having a child before being married to someone who was not a royal or have a political gain from it.
"...I do..."
Atalanta leaned forward and placed a soft kiss to her forehead.
'I see my reflection in your eyes.'
