Pov Atalanta
I look towards the people in silence and I just let my eyes roam over each person's face. Understanding the reactions of the people.
"I don't like people who own slaves. They are greedy and cruel. Acting as if they are gods to people who simply want to live. I hate them and I want everyone to know my rules on them even though I have gone over this already!" I yelled out with a growl at everyone.
I hated slavery, it was something I did not ever want to see again.
Walking towards the throne I quickly turned and looked past the people, to the priestess, who walked forwards and people immediately bowed and slightly tilted their heads away to avoid looking at the woman's eyes.
"When I was officially sworn in as the Queen to the Blood Throne, I had everyone, every lord and lady, kneel and swear their allegiance to me. In doing so they swore to abide by my laws. Laws created by my forefathers and ancestors! By our gods! Do we disrespect those who created those laws!" I yelled out to them and they all lower their heads and I glared at them before closing my eyes and taking a small breath as I feel the anger flow through me.
When I open my eyes I look at Asmund and motion him forward.
The man did, being careful to not step in the blood. He kept his eyes down, to avoid my own making me frown.
"My eyes are not on your feet, Lord Bonebane."
He looked up to me tentatively and I nod my head.
"Do your people have slaves?" I asked in a calm yet dangerous voice. His eyes widen slightly before shaking his head.
"He always kept it under the table quiet. He had killed a girl who was trying to rush to the cities to tell the guards or someone in power about his owning of slaves. Said if we were to talk, we were sentenced to death immediately." He spoke softly and I narrow my eyes on the man.
"Even you?" I asked and the young man just lowered his head.
"When I tried to speak out on it, he gave me ten lashings in the public eye as a display to show he was the one in power. He would have killed me if my brother didn't talk him down." He spoke softly and I felt my heart break for the younger man. To face a father that was cruel and power-hungry was terrifying.
"I see. Is your mother still alive?" I asked and the younger man flinched harshly making me confirm a suspicion.
"He killed her so he had a way to marry me without law to conflict it?" I asked and he nodded his head making me sigh.
"Your brother, what is his name and how much older is he than you?" I asked a series of questions making him look up to me.
"I am 23 and my brother is 27. His name is Islwyn Bonebane, firstborn."
