If You Can Tie It Back It's Time To Cut It

I pointed my sword at him. Nico smirked, taking off his sunglasses and jacket before tossing them both to the side and un-sheathing his Stygian iron sword. The sound gave me the chills.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Nico said with a wicked grin.

"Are you?" I fired back. "You do remember that my sword is Harpe, the first sword ever created right?"

"Mine is made of literal darkness Violet." Nico said swinging it back and forth. As it came in contact with the dirt, small stones scattered and the ground rumbled, just waiting for him to unleash an army of the dead.

"But mine can actually prevent monsters from reforming." Nico opened his mouth, probably to throw out another boast about his sword but Leo groaned loudly above us and said,

"Oh please stop with the foreplay and get on with the ass kicking!" I blushed but Nico didn't seemed phased by what he said. Maybe he didn't know what foreplay meant. It might have been before his time but he's a resourceful guy I'm sure.. "I'm rooting for you Violet! Kick Nico's skeletal butt!" Leo cheered me on. I laughed as Nico rolled his eyes.

Ten minutes ago, there had been a large group of us, my friends and about two dozen other kids practicing our swordsmanship skills on each other. Nico was being his usual self, hanging back in the shadows, watching, being boring.

I had gone two rounds with Percy, one with Jason and another with Reyna. Reyna and I had been talking a bit more recently and hanging out. I used to think she was a little.. Uptight I guess. I just didn't know her very well though. She's actually very sweet and caring and we were becoming fast friends.

The reason I fought Percy twice, was because I beat him the first time. It's this thing we do, if I beat him or he beats me, we continue fighting until the one who lost the first time, wins. I wouldn't call it a game exactly it's more along the lines of, exercise or practice. Sometimes these fights of ours only last two rounds but they've lasted for hours and even a full day once.

I like fighting Jason, mostly because we've agreed to use our powers to control the wind against each other which makes it more interesting and a lot like a special effects movie. If my hair isn't braided back or in a ponytail it flies like crazy all over the place which Leo says looks badass but doesn't feel very badass considering I can't see anything because my hair flies everywhere.

I know Percy is my brother, and so is Jason technically, but I actually prefer fighting Reyna over them. We're not afraid to hurt one another. We'll be sorry and apologize after but it doesn't inhibit us in the middle of a battle. If we bleed, we bleed. It just happens.

Percy on the other hand will stop the game completely and Jason, from very far away, asks if I'm alright. It's happened before where he's rushed over to check my bleeding arm and I've actually pinned him down and put a sword to his throat. He wouldn't fall for it twice. I've told him to stop worrying but I don't think he can help it.

I had just finished my bout with Reyna and had walked over to Nico, carrying a bottle of water and breathing a bit heavily. He was smirking at Leo and and Frank who was trying to teach the mechanic how to shoot a bow and arrow. Leo was handy with gadgets but he couldn't exactly fight with a sword. He liked setting traps, bombs and such, or creating other things to fight for him. It's actually pretty interesting all the things he comes up with and he can throw fire which is handy but he's been trying to learn how to handle weapons better.

"Valdez is messing up big time." Nico murmured, brushing a strand of his dark hair back. I smiled at the boys in the distance before looking up at my boyfriend.

"Oh shut up you two are like best friends." Nico coughed.

"Leo and I?" He questioned.

"Yeah, you guys talk and hang out like all the time. Remember last week when the two of you got into an argument over.."
