"Baxter is coming in today." Percy announced to our group of friends during lunch.
"Who is he bringing in?" Hazel asked.
"He calls him an angry blond boy in all his Iris messages but his actual name is Axel." I snorted as Percy spoke. "You got something to say Violet?"
"He's named after a part of a car." I replied.
"A pretty important part." Annabeth said with a shrug.
"Well you're named after flowers." Leo speaks up.
"And you're an astrology sign Valdez." Nico said rolling his dark eyes. Leo laughed, nudging Frank who was grinning.
"Anyways, getting back to the point, Chiron thought it would be a good idea for you to be on the Welcoming committee Violet." Startled, I looked up at my brother confused.
"Me? Why?" Percy shrugged.
"It's your winning personality." I narrowed my eyes at him as he sat down.
"I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not." Percy started laughing. Jason encouraged me that he wasn't but I knew Percy. "I've only been here a couple of months now shouldn't someone else be showing him around?" I questioned.
"It's sort of a tradition that new kids, after a while, get to show other new kids around. So everyone here has showed someone around once. If it's not a new kid showing you around though, it's one of the older ones. It's how I met Annabeth." Percy said, throwing an arm around her shoulders. She shook him off.
"Technically I met you when you in the infirmary. He snored and drooled in his sleep." I started laughing as Percy began protesting. Shaking his head, he turned back to me.
"Anyways, are you up for it? You've been here a while so you know where everything is and how to get around. It'll give the guy a chance to get used to Demi-god life and who knows, you could become friends with him."
"I'm not that good at making friends." I replied nervously
"We're your friends." Hazel prompted.
"Yeah but I met you guys through Percy. I don't know if that really counts." Percy was about to say something when a very loud whinny was heard.
"Pegasi." I said slowly, unsure. It was loud. Way too loud. All of the Pegasus we had would have had to cry out all at once to make a noise like that. Percy grinned.
"Sounds like they brought some friends along. Come on." Percy said, excited as he jumped up and raced toward the hill.
"Percy!" Annabeth shouted after him. I took off after my brother and everyone followed shortly. Percy reached the hill first and I came to a halt next to him. About ten feet in front of us was a guy with blond hair and smoking jeans, probably because the demon horses were spraying fire at him and Baxter who was furiously playing his reed pipes, making grass grow up and entangle the hooves.
"We should help." I told Percy, unsheathed not my sword.
"Yeah in a bit, look at the new guy." I hadn't noticed it before but he was brandishing a hatchet. It wasn't made of imperial gold so it wouldn't hurt the horses too badly but it could hold them back.
"What are those things anyways?" I asked.
"άλογα." Annabeth said. "Greek for horses." Percy and I nodded. "They're fire breathing and one of Hades many pets. There's only three of them though so that's good."
"How many should there be?" I asked.
"At least a hundred."
"Awesome. Let's kill these three before more show up. Ready Percy?" I asked him.
