"Oh come on!" Percy shouted at me from the sidelines. "My grandma can throw better than you." I turned to look at him, my hand on my hip as I pointed the tip of my knife at him.
"Shut up Percy or I'll turn my knife on you." I threatened.
"Problem is.. You would miss!" Leo exclaimed and then him and Percy were practically rolling around in the dirt laughing. Piper shook her head next to me.
"Hey, it's fine. Don't listen to those guys. By the time I'm through with you, you'll be able to throw knives almost as well as I can." I started laughing.
"Thanks Piper. I'm going to make my brother eat his words." I replied, tossing the knife up and catching the handle again.
"You've just got to remember that the knife is an extension of your arm, just like your sword." Piper said, circling around me as she began her lesson again. "It's just smaller and in my opinion, a bit easier to handle." She was fingering her knife delicately. Then, quick as a flash her arm shot out and the blade sunk to the hilt into the target. Dead center. "You need to put power into it to make it stick."
"Extension. Power. Got it." I said with a smile. Piper smiled back and gestured for me to throw the knife again. I held the blade as she showed me and got ready to throw it. Focusing on the target, I pulled my arm back and threw it as hard as I could. The knife struck the target but didn't go all the way in like it had with Piper but at least it stuck.
"Great job!" Piper encouraged as I fist pumped the air.
"Aw come on you only got it in the blue ring." I turned to glare at Percy and found that Nico had joined them against the wall.
"Hey Nico!" I said with a smile. He smirked.
"Practice going well?" He asked. I scoffed.
"Don't you start too." I grumbled walking towards him and kissing his cheek.
"I just asked how practice was going." He said holding up his hands in defense. I rolled my eyes and leaned into his side and he draped his arm over my shoulders. I heard someone scoff nearby and I glanced around Nico to see Axel sitting on the bench nearby polishing his sword and shaking his head.
"Is there a problem Axel?" I demanded. Shit. My mouth started moving before my brain could comprehend my words. He glanced up at me, scowling.
"No." He grumbled.
"Really? Because it seems like there's a problem." Nico hit my shoulder lightly, probably so I wouldn't agitate the situation. I could hear Percy and Leo whispering behind us.
"It just doesn't make sense to me."
"What doesn't?" I asked genuinely curious until he said,
"Why you and that bag of bones are together." I stared at him shocked and his smirk of satisfaction angered me. I glanced up at Nico for confirmation that he was angry too but he looked about as expressionless as he does when I tell him a joke.
"His name is Nico and don't call him that because he helped save your ass when you were helpless and on the ground!" I snapped at him. His scowl only deepened as Percy and Leo laughed.
