Chaos Descends

Apologies

"It's beautiful." I murmured, squeezing Nico's hand.

"The stars? They're okay." I hit his arm.

"They're beautiful." I repeated.

"They're the same lights in the sky you see all the time."

"No, they're not the same every night. The Earth moves on its axis. They're different, they change."

"Can we believe in science and have gods at the same time?" Nico questioned, which made me laugh. "I'm just saying, it's a bit contradicting, creation wise anyways." I laughed, hitting his arm.

"I can't believe I never knew you could do this." I murmured.

"It comes in handy." Nico said with a shrug.

"How do you do it? I wouldn't think that dreams would be in your spectrum."

"I think nightmares and nighttime have a lot to do with it. Sleeping and dreaming is just another part of the realm of darkness." I nodded my head slowly. "You can change it if you want." He said softly.

"How?"

"Just dream. Let go." And so I did and Nico and I just floated.

I was released from the medical ward the next day much to my relief. I didn't want to be cooped up in there all day and since my headache had gone away and I was able to stand on my own two feet, I walked out of there with my dignity intake, for the most part. Nico had warned me that people knew it was me who started screaming like a banshee in the middle of the night. So everyone knew about my dream and my panic attack.

Keeping my head down, I walked all the way back to my cabin and threw open the door. "Hey sis!" Percy said throwing something at me. They were little squares of multicolored paper. Looking up, I saw that he had a stupid little banner up that read, Welcome Back, in sea green letters. There was a stupid hat on his head and balloons tied to my bed.

"What are you doing?"

"You're back! It's been weird not having you sleeping across from me Violet." Percy said hugging me. I laughed at him, hitting his shoulder.

"So you made a banner, got balloons and confetti to welcome me back."

"Of course! Come on now though, breakfast." I shook my head at him as he pulled off the party hat and tossed it onto his bed before dragging me out to the Pavilion for breakfast.

Everyone was happy to see me up and running and I was glad for the sense of normalcy. Leo still cracked jokes, Frank and Hazel were debating with Piper over something. Jason was telling Reyna a story and using several dramatic gestures and it was all around a pleasant time. Nobody brought up my nightmare or the fact that I had been poisoned.

When I looked for Axel across the entire Pavilion though, I couldn't find him. I wondered if they had gone along with the banishing against what I had decreed.

"He's been hiding ever since you stood up for him at the meeting." I turned to Nico as he pulled his sunglasses off. "I think he's embarrassed." Nico smirked.

"Why? Because I saved his ass?" Nico chuckled lightly.

"Maybe. I mean, he doesn't like you much remember." I shrugged.

"He should like me though. I'm very likable." I grumbled. Nico laughed.

"So sis you down for anything today?" Percy asked, interrupting us. I glanced over at him sitting next to Annabeth. She smiled at me.

"Yeah. I need to get up and do things." I replied excitedly.

"Are you sure?" Hazel asked glancing over at me.

"I mean, why not. I'm not just going to sit in my Cabin while you guys have fun all day. I've done enough resting."

"Glad to hear it!" Leo exclaimed. "You should pick up your knife throwing practices with Piper so I can show you what I've learned about archery while you're out."

"I'm game." Piper said with a grin.

"Alright, maybe I got better at it in my sleep." I said with a shrug.

After breakfast, Piper and I went with Leo and Frank to the target range in the arena. Leo had gotten a bit better, under Frank's guidance but I was still at the same place Piper and I had left off on for the knife throwing.

"It's okay, you're doing really well." Piper encouraged while we were taking a break.

"Thanks Piper." I said with a smile. She nodded her head, and opened her mouth to say something but snapped it shut as a shadow fell over me.

"Axel." Piper said firmly. "Do you need something?" I looked up at the boy looming over me. He glanced down at me, his eyebrows arched down like he was angry at something. I stood up so I wouldn't feel weird having him stare down at me.

"I wanted to talk to Violet.. Alone." Piper looked to me for confirmation that this was okay.

"Yeah, sure." I replied with a shrug.

"Okay but I will be just twenty steps away." Piper warned him before walking exactly twenty steps away. I counted. Axel sighed and shook his head like he counted how many steps she had walked away too.

"So what's up?" I questioned, turning towards him. Axel sighed.

"I wanted to say thanks." He spit out immediately. "And to say sorry." I waited for him to keep got in but he didn't.

"For what?" Axel huffed.

"You know what."

"Yeah, but I want to hear it. Otherwise I won't believe you."

"Oh my god." He groaned, shaking his head at me. "Fine, I'm sorry for being an ass and thank you for sticking up for me." I nodded my head slowly, taking it in.

"Thanks. You are an asshole, you're right." Axel glared at me but just rolled his eyes.

"How'd you know I didn't do it?" He questioned after a bit. I shrugged.

"I don't know. You seemed surprised when I asked if you had poisoned me."

"That's a piss poor reason to think I hadn't poisoned you."

"You want me to believe you had? I can revoke your get out of jail free card." Axel shook his head at me.

"If you were going to, you would have done it by now." I shrugged.

"Maybe." Axel turned and began walking away. "I accept your apology by the way."

"Whatever." He grumbled. He kicked the ground, dust flying as he left. Pipers voice startled me next.

"What'd he want?" I jumped and she laughed a little.

"He apologized for being an asshole and then he thanked me for saving his sorry ass." Piper nodded her head sternly.

"Good, I'm glad." I licked my lips and nodded with her. "Anyways, let's get back to practice."

"Yeah, let's work on my shitty aim." Piper laughed.
