"She has a prophecy." Percy murmured, stating the obvious.
"I thought we were through with those." Piper practically begged, yanking off her helmet. I was startled to find her just steps from me.
"Let's hope it doesn't involve us." Nico said lightly, appearing out of nowhere and grabbing my hand. I nodded and waited for Rachel to speak as the green mist enveloped her. I was praying, praying to all the gods above not to let the prophecy be for us. But as fate would have it, Rachel turned and faced Nico.
Hades son will walk alone.
Chaos will resume his throne.
Darkness descends.
For none of his friends,
Can help in this fight.
And on the twelfth night,
He will be consumed
And on the twelfth night he is doomed.
It's already begun
On the twelfth night it's done.I thought that was it. The end of the horror. But Rachel turned and set her eyes on me.
Be warned fair goddess,
If you try to stop this fight you will lose your life. That's when Rachel collapsed, pitching forward into Percy's arms. Then everyone turned to stare at us. Nico had let go of my hand the moment he heard Hades son, I could just feel the tension in the air around him though. I swallowed hard and stepped in front of him trying to get his attention and ignoring everyone else.
"Nico." I began breathlessly. But he snapped his fingers and began to disappear. "Nico!" I screamed. "Damnit come back!" But he was already gone. Then I was running through the forest, jumping over logs and getting scratched by branches. I let out a low whistle to call Miss O'Leary who came bounding out in front of me, looking at my shield like a toy. "No. Sit." I said forcefully. She listened still panting and smiling like crazy. "Take me to Nico." I said scrambling onto her back. She sniffed the air several times and then bounded into the shadows. We landed inside of Nico's cabins.
"Get out!" Nico barked at me as he tossed every article of clothing into his backpack. I slid off Miss O'Leary and made a beeline straight for him.
"No way. No way in hell Nico!" I shouted shoving his arm. He stopped packing and turned to glare at me, his dark eyes flashing red. They only do that when he's really mad or, as he told me once, when he's scared.
"Get. Out." He said through his teeth. "Get the fuck out of here!" He roared. "I knew it! The fucking gods werent done with me! They had to put me through Tartarus and back but not only that they made me fall in love with you!" He screamed. "And I was stupid to think the would let me be happy!" He growled continuing to pack. "So get the hell out of here Violet. I'm leaving and you can't stop me." His words hurt but I tried not to take it to heart.
"Shut up!" I shouted at him. "You are leaving over my god damn dead body Nico! You got that? My dead body!" I said pushing him away from his drawer and his duffle. He stepped back unfazed as he continued to glare me down. "Don't you dare say they made you love me! Don't you dare Nico Di Angleo!" I shoved him again just because I was angry. "That was all you and you're an idiot for thinking that I'm just going to let you walk out of here."
"You won't. I'm just going to disappear." Nico shouted back. "You can't catch what you can't find Violet."
"Did you hear her? Did you hear Rachel!" I demanded. "Twelfth night. Counting tonight by the sound of it!" I screamed at him. "You can't run from this! There's a time limit not a distance limit!"
"I'm still leaving." He muttered pushing past him.
"Then take me with you." I said changing my tone and grabbing his leather jacket. He glared at me and shook me loose.
"Did you hear her?" He demanded repeating my words back at me. "You'll die if you try to stop what's coming!"
"Then just let me be with you! Nico I love you!" He scoffed and brushed me away before turning around. I think I could hear my heart breaking. "Nico please!" He snapped his fingers, illuminating the cabin further, the Greek Fire burning bright on thier torches. It cast light on our friends, the door was open. I wonder how long they had been there. Nico began heading for the door.
"Get. Out. Of. The. Way." He hissed, a distant rumbling sounded as I chased after him. This was the only time I had seen true fear in Jason's eyes. Nobody moved.
"You're not leaving." Percy said bravely. I glanced up at Nico, scared about what he might do to my brother. Nico just smirked and snapped his fingers.
"How are you going to stop me when you're too busy fighting for your life." He sneered. The ground erupted with armor clad skeletons. Then my brother and our friends were fighting for thier lives, even Hazel had to fend off several warriors. Others joined in to weed through the crowd. Only I was left without any attackers.
"Nico!" I cried out chasing after him. "Please! Please stay Nico!" I pleaded. I don't know when I started crying but the tears were streaming down my cheeks like they had always been there. "Nico I need you!" I cried out. He didn't stop though and he didn't look back at me. "We can help!"
"You can't." He muttered.
"We can! We always work through this! We.." Nico turned around swiftly.
"We? You've been here a year Violet. My entire life has been shit. You survived one prophecy, and if Percy who has survived at least seven can't help, then you sure as hell won't be fucking able too." He was trying to make me upset. Trying to make me give up on him. We were now at the top of the hill, standing by Thalia's pine tree.
"Nico if you go we're through!" I screamed. He paused. I thought I had changed his mind. I thought he would come back. I thought he was going to stay. Instead, he snapped his fingers. Another loud rumble was heard and the sound of clinking swords and gunfire stopped. The skeletons were gone. That's when he turned to look at me, his eyes cold.
"We never started." That's when he disappeared.
"Nico!" I screamed, my throat feeling raw and dry. Then I collapsed to my knees, hugging myself tightly. He was gone. Where would he go? It occurred to me that I didn't actually know much about Nico. That's what made me cry harder. I was chocking on the sobs. I wanted to scream until my lungs burned. I wanted to cry until the pain went away. I wanted Nico. I wanted Nico. I wanted Nico.
A hand touched my shoulder lightly and I stood up swiftly, hugging whoever was touching me, tightly. I assumed it was Percy because I couldn't find his face inthe people behind him. Then I buried my head in his shoulder so I wouldn't have to look at my friends and I cried until I couldn't breathe.
