"Nico." I called out, I wanted to run to him. I wanted to help, fight for him but there was nothing to do. Nothing I could do but let him be consumed by darkness. He turned to me. "What's happening?" I called out. His eyes kept changing from complete black to their original white and brown.
"I.. I don't know!" He called out. Before straightening up and becoming ridged again. That's when I noticed the tendrils of darkness wrapping around him.
"Axel!" I exclaimed, pointing aggressively at the smoke around Nico's ankles. He looked down and started slashing at them. Nico was spasming.
"There is nothing you can do. This cannot be helped." Chaos said and that's when a hand gripped my arm. It was cold and the grip was steely. I turned. Percy. He was grinning at me with malice. His eyes were black.
"Percy." I begged. "No!" Shoving him away from me, I turned to Hazel, getting ready to run or fight with her but her eyes were black as well. The darkness, it was surrounding all of us? Why was I not affected?
I started running, Hazel and Percy on my heels. I could fight one of them but both of them? No. I couldn't hurt them either. I would have to try to knock one of them out. "Violet! What are you doing?" Axel demanded. He was still hacking away at Nico's darkness.
"Percy and a Hazel, they've gone dark!" I called out. That's when I was tackled to the ground. I screamed. Hazel was holding my legs down, pinning me to the ground. Harpe had clattered out of my hands and skidded away. Percy raised his sword. Ducking to the side, his blade barely missed me. I threw dirt into Percy's eyes and then into Hazels. Both of the, cried out in surprise, rubbing their eyes. As soon as Hazel let go of me, I took off again, grabbing up Harpe.
"This isn't working Violet!" Axel called out. I ran towards him. "You can't come near him!" Axel shouted but it was too late. I was within ten feet now. Nico became hostile, swiping his sword at me, which I dodged.
"What are we supposed to do?" I cried out as I ran out of range. Percy and Hazel were coming back towards me.
"We need help! We need one of the gods." Axel cried out. My heart fell.
"The gods aren't quick to intervene." I said slowly. Chaos was laughing. The darkness was wrapping around Nico. It was almost covering him.
"Oh demi-gods. Don't you know there's nothing you can do?" Loose? We couldn't loose. We couldn't.. Nico's jaw went slack and he was breathing in smoke.
"Nico!" I screamed but his mouth shut and he fell to the ground. Axel stepped away from him. Hazel and Percy came to kneel in front of Nico. "Chaos! What have you done!" I shouted. Nico started laughing, standing up and stretching out his limbs.
"It is complete young demi." Nico flashed me a grin but it wasn't him smiling or his eyes.
"Bring him back." I said boldly, stepping towards Chaos. Without warning, Axel swiped his sword down onto Nico's arm. It broke the surface but didn't slice off his arm like I expected. Axel paused, pulling his sword out of Nico's arm. Blood was pouring from it. A mixture of black and red. Chaos, Nico, shouted in surprise.
"This body is not yet mine!" He shouted at Axel, flicking his wrist and tossing his sword to the side. "You may be able to hurt me but soon there will be nothing you can do to stop me." Axel and I shared a look across the way. I knew what he was trying to say. Kill him, kill Nico. Harpe could do it. My sword felt heavy in my hands. I moved forward. Just run him through. I could do it. I could end all of this. But that meant killing Nico. It meant killing the only boy I had ever truly loved. I was right behind him.
