"You should come out with us more often." I tell Nico as I watch him shake out his wet hair. He smirks at me, his dark eyes holding some light for once.
"You heard Valdez, if I'm out in the sun too long, I'll burn up." I laugh, shoving his shoulder. Our friends watch us, I can see them out of the corner of my eye. They've know Nico longer and it must be weird seeing him for long periods of time, or at all and they must get uneasy when I tease him or push him around.
I just wish they could see Nico the way I do. He's a great guy, even better when we're alone. He's just reserved and quiet, especially after his sister, Bianca, died. I haven't gotten his whole back story out of him yet but I have a feeling he'll tell me soon. I smile broadly.
"Besides, I know they're still wary around me." He says quietly, and rough like he read my mind.
"You just need to not look so scary." I said with a grin, poking his sides.
"You like scary." He said, his eyes melting into a reddish hue. I grin as they fade back to black.
"I do." I whisper back.
"Come on you two!" Hazel shouts.
"We're walking back!" Frank finishes. Nico rolls his eyes and takes my hand.
"We're not walking." He says simply and them I'm tossed into a cold black void before stumbling out onto Cabin Three's floor. I gasp, my hand on my chest as my breathing accelerates. Nico grins at me.
"Oh don't look so smug!" I exclaim glaring at him. "A warning would be nice and you never give me one."
"How else am I going to get you alone?" He asks, shrugging. I roll my eyes as I open my Cabin door so Percy doesn't freak out when they get back and he sees it closed.
"Maybe you should ask." I say as he tosses himself down onto my bed and kicks up his feet. I groan. "You're wet Nico."
"You are too." He says, gesturing to me.
"But I'm not laying down on my bed."
"Yeah, I am." I groan and roll my eyes. Nico laughs. It's a sound I don't hear often so I cherish it. He grabs my wrist and pulls. I stumble, nearly landing on his chest, which is clearly what he wants, but I brace myself against the wall that my bed is next to. "Violet." He grumbles.
"My brother will flip if he walks in here and sees me laying on top of you." I tell him, rolling my eyes as I pull my arm back. Nico rolls his eyes.
"He's only your half brother."
"Okay, how about this, both of my half brothers, which makes a full brother will be pissed." He groaned and sat up, running a hand through his dark hair as I began to gather some dry clothes to take with me to the shower.
"Dating you sucks." He muttered. I gasp, pretending to be offended.
"Excuse you." I say dropping the clothes on my bed.
"What? It's true. You have two half brothers, technically and one scary half sister. I'm a little overwhelmed here." I laughed as he stood up.
"Don't forget Tyson. He's technically one third of my brother." Nico sighed and shook his head.
"This family dynamic is complicated." He muttered.
"It gets worse once you think about how we should be technically be cousins and.." He put his hands over his ears.
"Why do you always have to bring that up?" He exclaims. "No one else does! Just you." He says gesturing towards me. I laugh.
"Because it's freaky to me!" I cried out. "I'm still new to this."
