Inside the house was all white, I stuck out like sore thumb in my all black. Black wig hiding platinum blonde hair, black contact lens hiding blue-grey eyes, black leather jacket, black make up, combat boots and black jeans. I was just all black. I looked at my mother in disbelief. "Its all white, are you kidding me."

"Not everything is white the upstairs is egg shell." She smiled at me again.

"Big Whoop its egg shell as if it makes a difference anyway."  I replied sharply. Egg Shell is a just a tad bit darker than white. I climbed the steps and shrugged off the jacket. I looked around the hall and opened a door that was closed; well I didn't have to wonder where my room was. Baby blue sheets carpet curtains and wall. I threw the jacket on the bed I walked further into the room it had a balcony and an en suite bathroom, walk in closet with a few new clothes and my many wigs and contacts. It made my lips tug a little, they tried to make it as much as my room as possible.

"Do you like it? We tried to set it up as best as possible." Her face looked expectantly for my approval. She was my mother the woman that gave birth to me, a fashion designer and a German woman.

"Hmmm." Was all I had to say and her face lit up like a Christmas tree.

"My room is just down the hall."  She beamed. The doorbell rang well I assumed it was our doorbell. She scurried away to see if it was our bell that was rung. I sat on the edge of the bed and stared at the glass balcony door at the overcast sky. I slowly took the hairpins out and took the wig off and let my hair spill over my shoulders, it brightened up my outfit. I scanned the room for a hairbrush and I located one and I walked over to it and started to stroke my hair with its bristles.

I looked down at my tattooed skin. Getting a tattoo was against my parent's rules so I got half a body filled with colored ink. I was finish brushing my hair and I put in a big long plait. I looked at the sky again and it looked as it were about to rain. Not that I didn't like the rain I loved it. I love the smell of the earth when rain touched it; it had that aroma I could sit and smell forever. Maybe living here won't be bad.

I stepped out on the balcony and I inhaled all the smells my nostrils could take, but there it was the smell of rain and earth touching. That beautiful smell. I put out my fingers and let the cold liquid touch my fingers. Not all girls appreciate the waters of the heavens, but I did and very much too.

I rubbed my wet hands together and stepped back inside, but I left the door open to fill my room with the smell. It would make me sleep like I used to before. My new room door opened and I looked at my mother who was smiling from ear to ear.

"Come down I want you to meet the neighbors." She said eagerly. What's so special about meeting them? Socializing wasn't really my thing I kept to myself. I liked privacy and silence.

"No, I'll pass." I said looking down at the black wig.

"It wasn't a question, it was a command." She looked really ticked off. At last that stupid smile is gone.

"You command soldiers and dogs and I'm neither." I snapped at her. I do what I feel not what am told. Just like cats.

"I am your mother and you will do as I tell you." She was yelling but the heavy rain was drowning out her voice.

"And I am your daughter not your pet." I yelled backed.

"Della please I'm trying." She looked about to cry. I didn't like seeing her like this so I did what all-obedient puppies did I did what she asked.

"Fine." I said in defeat and through the wig over my hair and followed behind her. I bet they could here us. I bet they are the nosey neighbors who are here to see what we have in our house. We were at the foot of the stairs and the three figure backs were turned to us. A tall male maybe 6'6, very tall and two women about 5'5.
