"This looks great! I'll take a look at it before the end of the week so you can get your grade." Ms. Nakamura, Rintarō's teacher, said as she placed his poem in a drawer of her desk.
Rin gave her a small smile as he bowed forward before making his way to the cafeteria.
He felt rather good today, which was... unusual for a Monday morning. Maybe it was because he had spent the weekend with and thinking about Y/n. Or maybe because he felt confident that he'd score a sufficient grade on his poem. It didn't really matter, what did matter was that he'd get to see her again.
Rintarō could feel his stomach do a flip when he saw Y/n standing in front of her locker, talking to her best friend Himara.
Y/n's hair was neatly combed back in a ponytail, braided. Her uniform looking tight, and spick and span. As to where Himara looked like she had just rolled out of bed. Her short hair being slightly messy, the dress shirt of her uniform not being buttoned up completely and her tie hanging around her neck very loosely.
He never really understood how those two became friends in the first place. They were complete opposites from each other, in appearance as well as in behavior. Not that he knew either of them very well. They were known acquaintances though, as both Y/n's friend group and Rintarō's friend group would hang out frequently.
Where Y/n, in school, was beloved by teachers, and always very calm, Himara would be the exact opposite. She had a hard time paying attention and would sometimes even get in trouble with the teacher.
She had changed a little though, compared to when they were in their first year. Maybe the saying was right.
'Birth to a feather flock together.'
Rin wiped his sweaty hand off of his pants as he watched Y/n talking to Himara. He was hoping that she'd walk off and leave Y/n so that he'd get a chance to talk to her.
And as if the Angels had heard his wish, Himara waved Y/n goodbye before she indeed walked off.
Now was his chance...
Rintarō wasted no time in quickly running his hand to his hair before he speed walked to Y/n's locker.
"Hey..." He spoke, leaning against the other lockers in an attempt to look as unbothered and nonchalant as ever.
Y/n shut her locker at the sound of Rin's voice, looking him up and down before letting out an amused laugh.
"Hey Rin~" She spoke, finding Him quite entertaining.
Rin must've realized how ridiculous he looked to Y/n because he cleared his throat and quickly took a different stance, a more...normal one.
"How was your Sunday?" Y/n asked him, cutely tilting her head to the side as she looked up at him.
Holy shit...
"I should be asking you that... Did you win your debate tournament?" Rintarō laughed, taken aback by how she was interested in his Sunday.
The corner of his mouth curled up in a smirk at the sight of Y/n playfully rolling her eyes at him while chuckling.
She opened the button of her blazer, showing him the golden medal that had apparently been hanging around her neck the entire time.
Rintarō scoffed and shook his head in disbelief. "Seriously?" He audibly laughed.
Y/n liked the sound of his laugh, she believed that she hadn't quite heard it before, cute...
"What? Told you I'd win." She shrugged as she couldn't help but give in to him and also chuckled.
"Never doubted that." Rin said, catching Y/n off guard.
