"You are NOT gonna believe this..."
"Hmm?" Y/n hummed, turning her head toward Aran with a raised eyebrow, pausing on her way down the stairs as her brother's voice stopped her.
Aran placed his hand on her shoulder as he walked up behind her, shoving his phone under Y/n's face so she could see the video on his screen.
"Are we even now?"
"No."
...
"Now we're even."
Y/n's eyes widened in shock as her hand flew up to cover her mouth.
"Say sike right now..."
In front of her—on Aran's phone, played a video of her. At first, it didn't quite register. It was just a shaky recording some highschooler made.
But then she noticed the school cafeteria—her school cafeteria. Familiar sounds and faces of people she knew in the background. Then, after hearing that recognizable and annoying voice, her own voice cut through the noise of people whispering and gossiping.
"You've gone viral," Aran gasped, his tone both stunned and entertained.
Y/n's head tilted to the side as the video replayed in front of her, her face scrunching up in repulsion.
The camera blurred around before it shifted, showing Mariko with her head hung low. "Are we even now?"
"Hold on, hold on, hold on," Aran geeked from behind Y/n. "This is the best part."
"No," Y/n's voice rang, her voice amused and astonished at the same time. As if on cue, she lifted her arm and grabbed a handful of potato salad, smearing it all over Mariko's school uniform.
"Now we're even."
Aran's loud laughter echoed through Y/n's ear.
"You gotta be kidding me." Y/n groaned, throwing her head back in agony. She barely escaped punishment from her mom yesterday after getting dress coded—if her mom found out she also smeared her school lunch over another student, she'd be done for.
Especially if she found out that the evidence of Y/n doing so was going viral...
"Not all heroes wear capes, some smear mashed potatoes 🥔✨." Aran read one of the comments under the video out loud.
Y/n clicked her tongue, turning around to finally face her brother. "Let me see that..." She mumbled, reaching for her brother's phone.
Y/n tried to suppress her smile but failed miserably as she checked the amount of likes the comment had gotten.
...
"So, how does it feel?" Aran smirked, leaning against the banister with his arms crossed. "Being the big hero everyone's counting on?"
"Shut up." Y/n playfully pushed her brother away, but the corners of her mouth betrayed her, curling upward as she scrolled further.
'Didn't know who that girl on the right was 30 seconds ago, but I'm officially a fan now 🙏'
'Not me rooting for someone I've never met 😭'
'Can we all take a moment to appreciate the accuracy of that girl's aim? Dead center shot 😂.'
