THE ZDUNOWSKI TWINS have been complete opposites since the time they were born. The eldest twin, Stephanie, was the sunniest girl you could ever hope to meet, but she tried to take her life seriously. Everything she did had a reason behind it. Unlike her sister, the younger twin, Cynthia, was a comedian. She has a way of making people laugh their asses off with just one look, and she rarely ever takes anything seriously.

But they did have something in common: the T-Birds. Cynthia would give her left arm to be considered a T-Bird. She was always with them, hanging around, trying to get them to let her into their group. And with Cynthia comes Stephanie, who hates the T-Birds. Well, she didn't hate all of the T-Birds. Steph loved Potato, Shy Guy, and Richie. Her only problem was Gil; she couldn't stand him. He infuriated her more than anyone she had ever met in her life. But she stuck around to protect her sister. She knew that at some point, the boys would disappoint Cynthia so much that she would need someone there for her. Stephanie just hoped it would be soon so she wouldn't have to spend one more night at the drive-in trying to stop Gil from buying her another popcorn with, more than likely, stolen money and trying to get her to talk through the movie, which she was trying to watch.

Speaking of drive-ins, that's where the T-Birds (including Cynthia, Olivia, and Stephanie) were all going at this very moment. Olivia had opted to be the driver tonight while everyone else lay low in the seats so they wouldn't have to pay for extra tickets.

Steph was conveniently shoved in the trunk with Richie and Gil. Everyone agreed she was the only one that would fit in the tight space with the two boys. She didn't understand why she couldn't just ride to the drive-in with Cynthia, but her sister hated having her on the back of her bike. Cynthia thought it "cramped her style," whatever that meant.

The car abruptly stopped, and Olivia yelled-rather harshly-for someone to get out of her way. In the next moment, she hit the side of the car, signaling the three teens to get out of the trunk. Of course, they all piled out except for Stephanie, who let the boys do a cute little jump out of the car trunk as she stretched, trying to regain feeling in her body before she trusted herself to get out of the car. But of course, being the 'gentleman' he was, Gil reached his hand down to help her get out of the car, which she shrugged off and got out by herself.

"Someone's feeling feisty today." Gil laughed as Steph struggled to get her balance with her legs, which had fallen asleep while they waited for Olivia to buy her ticket and find a place to park.

She smiled sarcastically. "Well, if I hadn't had to cram into the trunk with you, I would be peachy keen this evening."

He held a hand up to his heart and made a sad-looking face. "You're breaking my heart Stephanie Zdunowski."

"Oh, shut up, Gilligan." Steph put emphasis on the overused nickname he hated more than anything, which is why she used it very often, along with one he found much worse; Gilly.

Gil glared at her while Potato and Shy Guy laughed at the nickname. All laughter stopped when Olivia turned with some money Richie had given her to go and buy some peanuts. The boys were staring at her ass as she turned around.

Richie turned and saw the other T-Birds looking not-so-innocently at his baby sister. "Hey, nobody watch my sister walk away!"

All the other T-Birds suddenly found interest in everything else at the drive-in but Olivia's ass. And while they played off the staring like it never happened, Stephanie moved out of the way of her sister. Who was on a beat-up motorcycle making her way to her group of friends.

"Happy last day of summer, dipsticks!" Cynthia yelled as she jumped off her bike. She grabbed a bottle from inside the car and swung it around. "Let's get loaded, ditch this passion pit, and have some real fun."

"Sorry, Cynthia. The T-Birds are on the prowl tonight." Gil smirked and winked in Stephanie's direction, which earned him a raised eyebrow and a scoff. Gil just smirked and stood up on the top of the car. "All right, boys! You know the drill. The first to get a girl gets the keys."

Shy Guy raised his head to Cynthia. "I'll stay with you. See the movie." Stephanie couldn't help but smile at the boy's interest in her sister, but she knew Cynthia would never want to go out with the poor boy.

"Are you crazy?" Gil asked, "You don't go to the theater to watch a movie."

Potato sighed and patted his hopelessly devoted friend on the back. "That's how come they invented TV."

Richie sighed. "I'm with Shy Guy. These Rydell chicks are inept. Now that I'm a junior, I'm focusing on college."

Everyone around the boy started to laugh. "College?" Cynthia asked. "You barely go to class."

Richie rolled his eyes. "College girls. I want the kinda chick who's got her own mind, her own ideas, her own-"

He was cut off by the blondest bimbo at Rydell High, Susan St. Clair. "Buy me a soda, Richie?"

His face held a smug smile. "Let's bop." Richie held his hand out, and Gil gave him the keys with a sigh.

Cynthia climbed onto her motorcycle, with Shy Guy following after, both watching the movie. Potato left to follow after a girl in a bright blue poodle skirt. And that left Gil and Stephanie.

"You wanna grab some soda?" Gil asked, swinging his arm around the short girl's shoulders.

She pushed his arms off her and sighed. "You paying?"

He smiled and tilted his head up. "Yep."

Steph smiled contently and dragged him to the snack shack. "Okay, you tell the woman we need one popcorn and two sodas."

Gil nodded. "Aye, aye, captain."

Gil walked up to the counter and pulled out a dollar he had taken from Richie's pocket earlier today. The woman behind the counter flirtatiously grinned at him. "One popcorn and one soda."

Stephanie rolled her eyes and grabbed him in the ribs with her elbow. "Make that two sodas." She said to the woman behind the counter, who was glaring at her.

"No problem." The woman snickered before making the popcorn and sodas for the two.

"Now, why did you have to do that?" Gil asked, sliding the dollar towards the woman and grabbing the popcorn while Stephanie grabbed the drinks.

"Do what?" She asked nonchalantly, taking a large sip from her soda before sitting at a table across from Gil.

"You know what." He retorted, chomping down on some popcorn.

Stephanie sighed. "How many times do we have to go over this? I don't want to drink after you."

He shook his head. "It would save more money."

She grabbed the popcorn bucket out of his hand. "I'll pay you back."

He took a drink from his soda and scoffed, "You're not going to."

She unwillingly smiled. "You know me too well, Gilly."

He sighed. "Don't call me that."

The two didn't speak for a while because Steph was engrossed in the movie while Gil was distracted and not so discreetly watching Stephanie. So he noticed when she wrapped her arms around herself, trying to warm herself.

"You cold?" Gil asked as he shed off his jacket.

She turned her head a little towards him. "I'm fine."

He rolled his eyes and tried to hand her his jacket. "Put it on, Steph."

She shook her head, "I don't want your-"

Gil cut her off by standing up and putting the jacket over her shoulders. "I don't care, you're cold, and you're going to wear it."

Now this is why Stephanie couldn't stand the boy. He's consistently testing her patience, making her regret everything she said in their conversations. He always stared at her like he was waiting for her to mess up just so he could help. She hated it. She hated the way he paid attention to her. She could not bring herself to realize why he liked her so much. But after all, maybe she didn't hate him as much as it seemed. Perhaps she was grateful that someone paid attention to her. But she would never admit it. So Steph just rolled her eyes at his gesture, but that was a silent thank you for the warmth around her.
