AFTER A THRILLING adventure of painting all of Buddy Aldridge's campaign signs, Stephanie and Cynthia finally got home. Brief goodnights were mumbled by each of the girls as they went into their separate rooms.

As soon as Stephanie walked into her bedroom, she heard a tapping noise come from her window. She rolled her eyes, thinking her sleep deprivation was finally getting to her head, but a minute later, she heard the same tap tap tapping noise. Stephanie walked over to her window and slowly slid it open.

Steph was about to put her head out the window to see what was outside when someone else put their head in her room first. Stephanie grasped her chest, "Jesus Christ! You scared the shit out of me!" She whisper-yelled to not wake up her father and sister. And then the memory of her yelling at him less than two hours ago was present in her mind, and she sighed, "Why are you here?"

Gil smiled a movie-star smile and pulled himself into her bedroom. "Is it a crime to want to see you?" He asked in an insincere sweet voice.

"It's a crime when I'm mad at you," Stephanie said, crossing her arms over her chest.

Gil dropped the smile and sighed. "I wanted to talk to you."

Stephanie looked at him for a moment. He looked sad. Stephanie slowly nodded and walked over to her bed, sitting down criss-cross applesauce, patiently waiting for him to start talking. Gil put his hands in his jacket pockets and nervously paced around her room, looking at everything that decorated her private sanctuary.

"Well," He started. "First off, I'm sorry, and before you say anything, I'll make it up to Cynthia."

Stephanie nodded, "Okay. What else?"

He stopped pacing and stood in front of her. "Do you remember the first time we met?" He asked.

Stephanie furrowed her eyebrows like Gil had unlocked a long-forgotten memory. It was three weeks into Freshman year, and a group of stupid boys told Cynthia she wasn't normal because she didn't like hanging out with girls, so Stephanie Zdunowski did what Stephanie Zdunowski does best and found the boys.

It was the first time Steph had ever met the T-Birds, and if memory recalls correctly, they weren't even the T-Birds yet. They were just a bunch of idiot boys with stupid names who were with each other all the time. So Stephanie found the boy who seemed to be the leader of the small group and punched him in the nose, then she called him an asshole.

Steph smiled at the long-forgotten memory and laughed a little, "I'm still not sorry about that punch."

Gil shook his head, "You were the first girl who ever made my nose bleed."

Stephanie uncrossed her legs and got off the bed, thinking Gil was done with whatever he had come to her house to discuss, but of course, she was wrong. Gil had come to her house for one reason. When she stood up he tentatively cupped her cheek with his right hand, causing her to look up at him. Gil leaned in a little, ghosting his lips over her own.

"Can I kiss you?" He asked, sounding more like a plea.

Now, Stephanie Zdunowski is a person who holds a grudge, and if she had been thinking properly, she would have thought a little bit more about her answer. But she couldn't think properly when his mouth was mere inches from her own, "Yes," She answered, barely over a whisper.

Gil immediately pressed his lips onto hers, relishing in the kiss he had been waiting for since the moment he saw her. Since the moment she punched his nose. Since the moment she called him an asshole for the first time.

Stephanie had never forgiven someone so easily. But when he kissed her, she forgot why she was mad in the first place. All she could think about was his lips on hers, where they belonged.

She was the first to pull away, making sure he saw the smile on her face as she did so. He smiled back at her and began to climb out her window into the dead of night, "Goodnight, Steph." Gil whispered to her with a wink.

"Goodnight, Gilligan." She whispered back.

That night they both fell asleep with smiles on their faces. It had finally happened. Gil Rizzo and Stephanie Zdunowski had finally kissed. And if it was up to them, more kissing would come as soon as tomorrow.
