WHEN STEPHANIE WALKED into the auto shop classroom, all the T-Birds stared at her outfit. Specifically, at the jacket she was wearing, none of them spoke on the matter because they all saw the glare Gil gave them. It was more than a surprise that Steph was wearing his jacket. The two had gotten into so many fights over the years about why she wouldn't wear his jacket, but now they all assumed she changed her mind, which she hadn't, of course, or at least that's what she told herself.

Now, Stephanie usually does her homework in this class. While her sister and the T-Birds worked on beat-up cars. She had only taken the class, so she would have a free period to work on her homework that she never does at home. But on this rare occasion, she didn't have anything with her to do, so she grabbed nail polish and a file from the Home Economics classroom and was re-doing her chipped nails.

Gil pushed himself out from under the car. "Steph?" He asked.

She looked up from her freshly painted middle finger. "Huh?"

He sat up a little. "Do you have to do that in here?"

"Do what?" She asked as she immersed the nail brush into the blue polish.

He clicked his tongue, something he only does when he's annoyed. Which happened to be Stephanie's goal. "Paint your nails. It smells like shit."

She looked down at her nails so he would catch her smile. "It smells like chemicals." She retorted.

He sighed. "They don't even need to be painted. They looked fine this morning."

Everything he just said happened to be a mistake. Not only were the two surrounded by people who love to make fun of others, but they were also their dear friends. Richie whistled, "You better watch out, Steph. I'm sure your painted nails weren't the only thing he noticed this morning."

Not only did Richie laugh at his own comment, but so did Potato and Shy Guy. Cynthia beat a part of the car to get attention, "Stop perving on my sister." She mumbled loud enough for everyone to hear.

Stephanie's face turned red, and she tried to only focus on her nails, and Gil muttered, "Shut up." And put himself right back under the car.

Stephanie had tuned out of the T-Birds conversation until Gil pushed himself out from under the car and practically yelled, "We've got to do something. The T-Bird name demands respect."

Stephanie turned her head towards the car as Potato pushed himself out from under the vehicle. "The T-Bird jacket demands respect."

Cynthia pushed herself out from under the car, holding a wrench to her chest. "Speaking of jackets-"

Shy Guy piped up. "Let's just forget the whole thing,"

Richie turned to him, "You know our place?"

Gil rolled his eyes, "Our place is at the top."

Stephanie finished painting her nails and closed the bottle. She didn't want to miss a fight because she was trying to match her nails to her outfit. She watched as her sister confidently stood in front of the boys and declared, "I want to be a T-Bird."

The guys all looked at each other and laughed. Cynthia shook her head, "Come on! Fellas, I'm serious. I'm with you guys all the time, anyway. And I always bring the booze and reefer."

Potato raised his brow. "Reefer? You got us one half a birdie, one time."

Cynthia rolled her eyes. "You smoked it. Please, I'll earn my way in. A bona fide initiation."

"Initiation?" Richie asked. "What are you gonna do?"

She thought about it for a moment. "I'll get you revenge."

They all looked up at her, interested, while Stephanie rolled her eyes. "And how are you gonna do that, Cynthia?" Steph asked.

Cynthia just smiled. "The worlds changing. Howdy Doody is on the way out, and Marlon Brando is next. Think about it, we've got the cars, the bikes, the chops. And yeah, we're covered in grease. That's why we're so slick. We've gotta let them know it."

While Cynthia spoke, Gil walked over to the box Stephanie was sitting on and sat beside her. "Are you hearing this?" he whispered into the other Zdunowski girl's ear.

Stephanie smiled. "I think she's right."

Gil took a deep breath, "Okay, so how are we getting this revenge?"

Cynthia smiled knowingly. "We're gonna disrupt their dumb little hero-worship ceremony tonight."

Stephanie raised an eyebrow, "The pep rally?"

Cynthia nodded, "And if we pull it off, I get my own T-Birds jacket."

Richie shook his head, "Hell if we pull it off, I'll give you mine."
