STEPHANIE WAS BRINGING her father and sister microwavable dinners when the phone started to ring. Cynthia shot Stephanie a knowing look, and the older girl quickly unplugged the telephone. They were both not in the mood to get scolded over a simple incident that just so happened to involve their bare bottoms.

Once Stephanie had given them their dinners, she went to make her own, but she was stopped halfway through the kitchen when someone knocked on the door. "I'll get it!" She yelled as she walked to the door, opening it slightly to see who was behind it, and she almost shut the door in the person's face, but he put his foot out so it wouldn't close.

"Just let me speak," Gil said as he held his hands up like he was being arrested. "Please?"

Stephanie would have told him to leave, but the please intrigued her. "What do you need, Gilligan?"

He sighed but didn't correct her use of the nickname. "I came to apologize."

Her eyebrows rose, and her face held a smirk. "To apologize?"

Gil nodded, "Yep. Where is she?"

Stephanie stopped him from walking inside, "I'll get her." Then she walked into the living room and pointed at Cynthia. "It's for you."

Cynthia looked confused but followed after her sister, only to see Gil standing there looking like he hated his life. "Cynth, I just wanted to say I'm sorry about the way me and the boys treated you about the jacket."

Cynthia just shrugged, "It's cool." Then she went back to the living room.

Stephanie chuckled as Gil stared at her, "You still mad at me?" He asked.

"I guess not, but if you mess up again, it's gonna take more than that sad-ass apology."

Gil huffed and put his hands in his jacket pockets. "You wanna grab something to eat?" He asked casually.

"You paying?" Stephanie asked.

He smiled and tilted his head up. "Yep."

Steph smiled contently and walked back into her living room. "I'll be back in a bit," Her father and sister both hummed in acknowledgment as they were watching TV.

Steph met Gil at the front door and then walked out to his car. The drive was peaceful. The two didn't talk much. Gil had his arm draped around Stephanie as she listened to the radio. It was the only time Gil Rizzo enjoyed a comfortable silence. He would usually try and make Stephanie talk, but he was taking things slow this time because she had just been pissed at him not even twenty minutes ago. He was content with the radio being the only noise in his car.

When they got to Frosty Palace and got a table, Stephanie looked at the menu before deciding what she wanted. "A basket of fries and a chocolate milkshake. What are you getting?"

He pretended to look at the menu. "A basket of fries and a chocolate milkshake."

Steph rolled her eyes, "If you're eating my fries, you're getting your own milkshake." She informed.

He held up his hands. "Aye, aye, captain."

Mrs. Nakagawa came over to their table to take their order. "And what would you two like tonight?" She asked kindly.

Gil flashed her a smile. "Just a bucket of fries and one chocolate milkshake."

Stephanie rolled her eyes and kicked him under the table. "Make that two chocolate milkshakes, please." She said to the woman in front of her, who was kindly smiling at her.

"No problem." Mrs. Nakagawa said before walking away to make the food for the two.

"Now, why did you have to do that?" Gil asked, placing three dollars in the middle of the table.

"Do what?" Stephanie asked.

"You know what." He retorted with an eye roll.

Stephanie sighed. "How many times do we have to go over this? I don't want to drink after you."

He shook his head. "It would save more money."

She sighed. "I'll pay you back."

He scoffed, "You're not going to."

"I feel like we've had this conversation before." She mumbled.

Before the two could continue their conversation, Mrs. Nakagawa came with two chocolate milkshakes and fries. "Thank you," Stephanie said as the woman set everything on the table.

Gil immediately started stuffing his face with fries while Stephanie chose to dip hers in her chocolate milkshake. "That is disgusting," Gil mumbled through a mouthful of fries.

She shook her head. "No, it's not. Try it."

She held out a chocolate-covered fry to him. Gil hesitantly took the fry out of her hand and plopped it into his mouth. After a second of chewing with a disgusted face, he sorta shrugged. "It's not that bad."

Steph smiled, "Told you so."

The two finished eating and got back into Gil's car. When they pulled up to the Zdunowski's house, Gil insisted on walking Stephanie to the door. Stephanie stopped before she opened the door and just stared at the boy in front of her. "Thanks for dinner." She said.

Gil jokingly grabbed her hand and planted a light kiss on it. "It was my pleasure,"

Stephanie rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help but laugh. "Shut up, Gil."

He looked up with a smirk. "Make me."

The air suddenly got hotter around the two as they leaned in closer. Gil was so close Stephanie could feel his breath on her face, but the moment was ruined when the front door sprung open, and the two teens quickly pulled away from each other.

"You're back!" Cynthia cried. "You bring any leftovers?"

"No," Stephanie mumbled. "I'm sorry."

Cynthia shrugged, "It's fine." Then she walked away from the door but left it open for her older sister.

Stephanie gave Gil a tight smile. "See you tomorrow."

He nodded and gave her a punch on the arm. "Not if I see you first."
