 "All right Scott."

The Councilwoman, Missy and I started giving the rest some of the tea. We could hear the difference in their breathing almost immediately.

I went to bring a cup to Cassie and all I could smell was vampire blood in the tea.

"Scott did you bleed a lot?" I asked him when I came back into the kitchen.

"Yes Kylie I did."

"I think your blood is what is helping them. They are breathing better almost before they have finished the cup of tea." I said.

"Yes I noticed that too." Councilwoman Cleo said.

"I have healed them before with my blood." I said softly.

"How much do you think they will need?" Scott asked.

"I am thinking quite a bit to heal all their illnesses." The Councilwoman said.

"I will try it on Paddy."

I went into my bedroom slicing my wrist for Paddy. I made him drink a lot. I did not let up until he started pushing me away.

"Kylie what are you doing?" He said with a clearer voice.

"You all have shifter's disease. Elder Camarillo said there was no cure."

"Shifter's disease. I thought that was a myth." He looked into my eyes. "He is right there is no cure. Who else has it?"

"John, Quinn, your parents, Cassie, Samuel, Ramon, Patricia and Elder Camarillo" I thought for a moment. "Do you know how you become ill with this?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "No one knows."

"Well I am hoping my blood works."

"Me too." He smiled.

Scott and Councilwoman Cleo came in a few minutes later. "It looks like it works." Scott said.

"How much?" Councilwoman Cleo asked.

"I did not stop until he pushed me away."

"Good I will do Cassie." She fed her blood to Cassie. She woke up a couple minutes later. '"It has been a long time since I have woken up in my parents' bedroom."

"How long have I been ill?" Paddy asked.

"Two days."

"I am so hungry I could eat everything in the kitchen." Paddy said rubbing his belly.

"Me too." Cassie said standing up.

"Where are you going?" Scott asked.

"I am going to the kitchen to find something to eat." Paddy said. Scott led the way to the kitchen. He opened the door to the common room. The scent from the others drifted in. They both collapsed onto the floor.

"I do not understand. What happened?" Councilwoman Cleo exclaimed.

We carried them back to their beds.

"It is simple Councilwoman Cleo. They smelled the scent of the others." Scott pointed to the rest of his patients.

"That means we are going to need more vampires to feed them all at the same time." She said.

"Yes Madam. That is probably the best way to do it." Scott told her.

"All right. I need six more vampires. I will be right back." She dashed out into the corridor. She was back with the rest of the Vampire Council, Athos, Julian and Annabelle.

"All right. Slice your wrists on the count of three. You do not stop until they push you away." There was a vampire beside each of the ill shifters.

"Is everyone ready?" She called out.

We all said yes.

"One, two, three. Slice."

Five minutes later they were all awake and feeling better.

I was a bit weak so was the Councilwoman.

Annabelle went down to Katey's kitchen and brought back a huge pot of stew while everyone ate I went out to feed when I came back the Council was drinking several bottles of their chilled blood.

Elder Camarillo looked upset.

"What is wrong Sir?" Scott asked.

"Maxine is not here."

"Yes about Lady Maxine." He hesitated. "She is the reason you are all ill. She carries the shifter's disease scent."

"What? How do you know this?" Elder Camarillo asked defensively.

"I could smell the scent coming off of her when I was standing beside her in the main square." I told the Elder.

"What scent is that Kylie? I have been with Maxine for six months now I would have been ill before this." He was very upset.

"Yes Sir I understand but has she ever shifted around you."

"Of course ..." He stopped to think. "Now that you mentioned it. No she has not. But what does the shifting have to do with it."

"It is when the scent is the strongest. Councilman Samuel," Scott pointed to him, "collapsed after she shifted and the scent choked both Kylie and I." Scott explained.

"Oh dear." He seemed a little calmer. "I do not think she has any idea."

"She might Sir. She shifts only when she is alone."

"The disease has been around for a long time." The Elder said quietly.

"Yes Sir it has." Shaun said. "I have heard of villages dying out because of it."

"It has reduced out population considerably." The Elder looked at all the vampires in the room. "Vampire blood." He shook his head. "That is something none of us ever thought of."

"Yes Camarillo but there is a secret to this cure." Councilwoman Cleo whispered.

"Oh? Cleo."

"All the shifters must be given the vampire blood at the same time or they relapse immediately."

"Oh that does pose a problem for any of us."

"Definitely." Scott said.

"But first we must cure the carrier." Elder Camarillo said.

"Yes Sir." Scott said.

"She has not been back since Councilman Samuel collapsed." Scott told him.

"Oh dear." The Clan Elder started to pace and mutter to himself. "If I was her where would I go?" He paced for fifteen minutes then stopped and smiled. "I will be right back." He ran out of our quarters. We looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders.

Elder Camarillo was back a few minutes later with Lady Maxine.

"She was right where I thought she would be in my quarters." Lady Maxine smiled when she saw that the ill people were out of their beds.

"Now my dear we are going to give you something to help rid you of the shifter's disease." The Elder told her.

"That would give me so much pleasure." She smiled. "I do not like hurting people." She looked at all of us. "I am sorry I thought I was safe."

"Kylie you will be the one to tell us if it is working." The Elder told me.

"All right Sir." I nodded.

"Klaus if you will be so kind as to feed Maxine some of your blood." Elder Camarillo asked him.

"Of course Camarillo."

"Camarillo McKibbon what are you thinking. I am not a vampire." Lady Maxine was extremely upset.

"Yes my dear I know but the blood is what cured all of us." He pointed to all the shifters.

"Are you serious Cam?"

"Yes my dear 'Deadly serious'" He glared at her. "Now remember do not shift."
