Councilman Mario stepped forward. "I am sure all of you have something to say but I think you will understand that these accounts have become very overwhelming to all of us." He turned and nodded to the rest of the Councils. "We will recess until this evening." He sighed. "Zeus."
"Court is adjourned." Zeus called out.
After we returned Barkley and Franklin to their cell. Everyone went back to their quarters and the non-residents went down to Katey's kitchen to sit quietly and console each other.
Councilmembers Cassie, Samuel, Serena and Anna along with Athos, Julian, Wilbert and Mikala were waiting at our door. Paddy invited them in.
"Please sit down. I will make some tea." I told them. Paddy came to help me. We noticed as we prepared the tea that no one was speaking in our common room. I gave each of them a cup of tea. Athos, Julian, Wilbert and Mikala never noticed but they held the warm cups close to them.
Paddy and I waited for one of them to speak. It took two cups of tea for anyone to say something.
Councilman Samuel did a deep sigh. "I will miss my parents. I thought coming to the New World was going to be hard but knowing they are not at home anymore. It will be hard to bare." Mikala reached over and held his hand. He went quiet.
"I wonder if Remus or Thaddeus ever perfected those moves that Councilman Klaus showed them?" Athos said to Julian.
"We will never know."
"We must end this trial. One more day without them being properly punished is one day too long." Councilwoman Serena said.
"This is true." Councilwoman Anna agreed. "They have gotten away with these crimes for too long."
"The sooner they are punished the better." Councilman Samuel said.
This seemed to give some relief to their sorrow.
Councilmembers Samuel and Cassie stood up. "Thank you for the tea." They said together. "Good night." They left.
"Yes the tea was very comforting. Thank you." Councilwoman Anna said, "but we must go check on Amelia."
"Amelia." Athos whispered then smiled.
"We will go and see her now, my love."
"Yes we will." They left.
"Come, my dear, we will go to our quarters and see our children." Councilwoman Serena said softly.
"Yes the children." They walked out slowly.
Mikala sobbed. "How will I go on without my little girl?"
"One day at a time." I whispered.
"Come, my love, we will go to our quarters. You need some rest. These last few months have been very trying on you."
"Yes they have." They also left.
Paddy and I could feel their pain losing family and friends.
We went into our kitchen and made the evening meal. An hour later our family was sitting down at the table.
"Mama, why is everyone so sad?" Pearl asked me while we served the food.
"Everyone has lost someone from their family. Their friends. They are all mourning."
"Oh."
"Grandpa, do you think they will get death?" Quinn asked
"It is quite possible. Knowing how many of our world has been destroyed because of those two. I can not see any other choice they could have."
