"Besides" Samuel said, "I was tired of everyone bowing to me. I am no different from any of you."

"Samuel you were in a position of power. You just did not feel comfortable about it."

"I felt the same way." Cassie said.

"Now Sis, we can tease you again without disrespecting your position." Quinn told her.

"Oh Quinn, how I missed that." She sighed then smiled. Quinn gave her a hug. "I missed this too." She hugged him back.

"Grandpa are we Elite Guard to the Vampire Council or all the Councils?" Cassie asked.

"The Shifters and Kylie are for the Vampire Council but the Mixed Blood and the Werewolf Councils need their own kind to guard them it would be only proper. They would understand their needs better. Why?"

"Well Councilwoman Mary threw her marker in Mikalia's area and I thought it would be nice to be near Samuel's family for awhile." She said softly ending in a whisper and looked a little worriedly at me.

"I think that is a wonderful idea" I said Cassie took a deep breathe and looked relieved.

"You, Samuel, Ramon and Patrica can be her Elite Guard." Shaun told her.

"I hope she agrees." Cassie said.

"She does not have a choice. I am the one that assigns the squads."

"I never knew that."

Paddy and I glanced at each other. We were always assigned to Councilman Klaus and Councilwoman Cleo. Maybe we will be in London.

"Do any of you have a preference to who and where you might want to live and guard. We can always change things around every gathering."

We nodded.

"Grandpa what happens if we want to change before the next gathering?" Brian asked.

"That might take some time to do. I would have to send letters to all the other guardsmen to see who was willing to change with you."

"Oh that would be very rude... no that is not it. Inconsiderate. That is the word I was looking for." Brian said.

"Yes it would be and very time comsumming so lets hope everyone can stay at their post until the next gathering."

"Perhaps I should have everyone write down their requests that way I am not putting someone where they do not want to be."

"Good idea Dad." Cory said.

Everyone said good night and went to their own quarters.

The following day Shaun told each squad before they went on patrol to submit their request on where they would like to live and who to protect.

For the next few days Shaun was busy with his guardmens putting in their requests. Shaun had a large area on his wall in his office. He had the Councilmembers names where they would be living, when and how long they would be there. Next he would write down the guardsmen if he was part of the Elite Guard or not so far they have been spread out evenly around the globe but not all requests have been put in yet.

I was helping Colleen with the evening meal when Jules and his family came in to see Shaun. Katey, Benjamin and Victoria May looked nervous. Jules hid his emotions well. Shaun brought them into his office and shut the door.

They came out about an hour later. "I hope I have calmed your feelings?" Shaun asked as he walked them out of his office. "Yes Shaun you have," Jules said, "We will give you our requests tomorrow."

"Thank you Jules until then."

"Good night." The Messner family said as they left.

"This living outside our little community has a few people nervous." Shaun said sitting down at the table.
