"No Sir."
"Good. The rest of you need to be registered. The South African Council will take down your information and put it in the registry."
"Klaus you can not be serious?" Madam Mayer exclaimed.
"Very serious Mientjie. I suggest you get started." Councilman Klaus told her.
"We do not have any parchment or ink." Jon whined.
"Then go and find some." Councilman Klaus said sternly.
"Jon, Randall go back to the Council Chamber and bring back some parchment and ink." Madam Mayer demanded.
"Do it yourself Mientjie." Randall argued.
"I have a better idea. All of you go." Councilman Klaus ordered.
"Do not order us around Klaus." Madam Mayer said.
"Go. Now." The Councilman growled. "You have ten minutes then we leave."
The shocked look on their faces was priceless.
"Okay we are going." Madam Mayer muttered.
They dashed off and returned within the ten minutes with parchment and ink.
"Felicia. I want you and your friends to organize six lines in front of this Council." He pointed to the South African Council.
"Yes Sir."
Councilman Klaus signed to the rest of us 'I want half of you to stay here. The other half I want you to come with Cleo and I.' then he pointed to me, Paddy, Quinn, John and twenty others to follow him.
Once we were far enough away from everyone. He told us he wanted us to run along the border of their territory and bring in any vampires we find.
"But Sir we do not know their border lines?" Paddy said.
"I know Paddy but Cleo and I do." He smiled grandfatherly.
"Yes Sir."
"All right. We will head north to the border then east to the Ocean. We will follow the coastline south then north back to their northern border to our starting point."
"Yes Sir." We said together.
"Let us go." We kept the Council members in the center of our group.
It was not long before we had vampires following us. Twenty four hours later we reached our starting point with three thousand vampires in tow.
Councilman Klaus started back to the meeting place. He told the vampires that there was a gathering they must attend. They did not argue with him.
When we returned to the meeting place. They were still registering vampires. Councilman Klaus turned to the vampires he was bring in. "How many of you have been registered?"
Fifteen hundred hands went up the Councilman nodded. "The rest of you join the lines for registering." They went silently.
Councilman Klaus and Councilwoman Cleo went and joined the rest of their Council. "How have things been going here?" Councilwoman Cleo asked.
"Everything is going smoothly as soon as they are registered they join the others who are dancing?" Councilman Antonio pointed towards the crowd on the other side of the lines. "They are enjoying themselves." He smiled.
Councilman Klaus scanned the ridge of the meeting place. He signed 'I see the rest have arrived."
Councilman Antonio nodded.
'Good.'
It took the South African Council a week to register all their vampires.
Our Council was keeping me near them. It seems my scent was making the crowd of vampires hungry.
Councilmen Carlos and Mario went on a hunting expedition. They came back with antelope, bison, gazelle and wild boar. There was enough to feed all the vampires and then some.
I drained a wild boar then put it on a spit. Felicia came over to me. "Excuse me what are you doing?"
"I am cooking dinner for my family." I said.
"Family? You have a family?" She said shocked.
"Yes I do. You are standing beside my husband and two of my children."
She looked at Paddy, Quinn and John. "I am sorry. I did not know we were able to have children."
"Well normally we do not but it depends on your mate." I smiled.
She looked even more confused. "My husband is not a vampire."
"Oh!" She looked embarrassed. "Well of course." She smiled shyly at Quinn and John then walked away.
"Mom it smells delicious." Quinn said.
"Thank you. I am sure you would like a cooked meal after all the fresh meat you have been having lately."
"Yes I would."
A black panther came purring up beside me. She rubbed up against me.
"Hello Missy do you want some cooked food too?" She licked my face. It made a rasping sound.
A little while later we were sitting around the fire eating. Shaun signed to us 'that the rest of the Guard had arrived in case they were needed.' We nodded. 'So have the other two Councils.'
'Who is left at home?' Colleen asked.
'All the shifters.' We chuckled. No one would venture into the cave but if they did they would not be staying long.
Felicia and a few of her friends were walking by. "Good evening Felicia. How is the gathering going?" Shaun asked.
"They are all dancing now that the registering is done."
"Good now we can get down to business." Shaun said.
"Business? What business?" One of her friends said.
"The passing of laws."
"Oh yes." She smiled at Cory. Annabelle handed Cory another plate of food. "Thank you Luv." The girl turned away.
"When does that start?" Felicia asked.
"When everyone is finished eating." Shaun told her.
Once all my family finished eating I cleaned the plates and repacked them in our bag. We went and stood in front of our Council's platform. Shaun told the Council everyone had finished eating.
The eight thousand South African vampires were waiting for the Council to come out again.
Councilman Klaus stepped forward followed by the rest of the Council. They crowd cheered.
"Has everyone fed?" He asked the crowd.
"Yes." Was his response.
"Good."
"Klaus. Klaus." Madam Mayer called to him.
"Yes Mientjie."
