10. Some Birthday Party

Emily and I stood in front next to each other, Claire stood behind me to the right the rest of the girls stood to the left behind Emily. Of course this meant the packs; Claire and I were part of Jacob's while the rest of the girls were part of Sam's. I wonder why Emily stood next to me, maybe to show that both packs were equal. In either case I liked the fact that we were all united.

I felt a thudding on the ground, only I felt it because the rest of the girls just stood motionless. Then I heard the rustling of the tree branches as they were forced out of shape. Then I saw something, dots of different colors, yellow, green, blue, and red. Each pair was looking at us. To my surprise there were only nine out of seventeen pairs. Was there really some of Sam's pack missing? I had to hold that thought since now the wolves coming out of the trees. I saw how their eyes started coming closer, the intense color was getting lost as they became a shade of brown.

The first to come out was a russet brown wolf, Jacob. All the girls were surprised, I looked at them watching their reactions, and they were shocked. Emily stepped back behind me. This meant that Jacob and Sam had agreed that Jacob was the true Alpha; he had finally taken his place as the true leader. He came towards me and bowed his head. I took his massive head into my arms. I felt his fur on my torso; it was soft and warm. My Jacob, I was so proud of him, he had finally faced his fear.

He slowly pulled away from my hug and licked my cheek. I smiled and laughed then hugged him again, this embrace was shorter though. Then he kneeled next to me. I climbed up on his shoulders, once positioned sitting down he turned around to face the rest of the wolves. The next one that came forward was black; the black was darker than coal this must be Sam. My guess was proven correct as he kneeled next to Emily, she crawled to Sam's shoulders as I had and sat.

The same process was repeated for Kim, Rachel and Claire. The wolf next to Rachel was a silver color with a dark gray tint to it, this was Paul his fur reminded me of the moon so silver with some gray on it. Next to Kim was Jared that had his fur thick and brown, it was a deep brown between a chocolate and tan. The brown wolf that kneeled next to Claire was therefore Quil, I liked the color of his fur too it was a chocolate brown that got lighter at the face. I recognized Leah right away, she was silver, but unlike Paul's her fur had a white tint to it, it was a truly a silver looking color she reminded me of a brand new quarter. She was smaller and thinner than Paul too. Another wolf I recognized was Seth; the sandy color on his coat was as intense as the silver on Leah's. I knew it was him since he stood next to Leah. Embry was also next to them his fur was the same as Paul's, the only thing setting them apart was that he had two black circles on his sides. There were two other wolves here; they must have been some of Sam's pack. Their feet were a little bigger than the others which meant they were newly phased thanks to the Volturi's visit. They were different shades of brown.

I was really impressed by the color of the furs. Each wolf had a color reflecting some part of them. Russet-brown was the color of heat for me, that color meant warmth, which reminds me of the sun. Black was sad, empty, so much missing, yet living in such space gives you the strength to live on. Silver was a mix between the happiness and sadness reminds me of moonlight so pure yet mysterious compared to the black sky. The brown was also warm but so down to Earth. Brown the color that could be rich as chocolate or poor as dust either way it had a beauty to it.

The sun was starting to rise and the wolves made a "V" shape behind me and Jacob. Leah and the pack were on the right while Sam and his were on the left. As the rays of light made their way to the clouds and over the tree tops Jacob started to run. The tree trunks became a blur of brown and gray, I focused more on the changing color of the sky. The clouds were going from plain blue to the shades of pink, orange and purple. I really liked how the sky looked, the clouds of soft pastel colors and the sky being painted from purple to blue.
