Forever Sunlight

24. Leah

I could see the forest rush past me. Here however, the forest was different. It was so unknown and foreign. I could feel my speed increasing, my feet going over moss, pine needles, snow, and rocks.

My body pushed itself faster and faster. Soon the scent became familiar, it was my home just a few states away. Home never sounded so great. I need help. I need to get home now.

I came to a halt. I wasn't in such a forest I was near La Push, running patrol as always.

Hello? Anyone there?

That was definitely not me. I tried to feel the stranger.

Who is it? Seth? I asked.

Leah! I'm glad to hear you. Tell the Cullens a tragedy happened.

Jacob?!? I couldn't believe it. You're not supposed to be here. I looked into his mind to find the answer.

Then I saw them. A couple of male statues, along with a female one. Jacob, Renesmee. I felt my heart shatter as I saw how Renesmee walked away with them.

Jacob tell me that didn't happen.

You think I would lie about something like this?!? Let the Cullens know, I'll be there by nightfall. Keep the others alert, tell them what happened. I will get Renesmee back if it's the last thing I do. Then he was silent.

I pushed my body to the big glass house following orders.

Jake you sure about this? The Blonde will tear your head off!

I rather be dead than not get her back. Now follow orders and stay out of my head.

It was hard not to gasp or get wind knocked out of me. Jacob was shattered and there was nothing in the world I could do to make him feel better. His memory recalled Renesmee how happy they had been hours before they meet their fate.

Tears ran down my fur and the wind took them before they got to my muzzle. The scent got sharp which meant I was here. I shifted to my human form, and put the clothes I had left here on.

I walked the rest of the way a bit too quickly. The smell stung my nose as I got to the front door. Edward opened.

"Leah? I didn't expect you."

"Yeah, well you're not going to like what I came to say."

"Please come in."

He walked me to the living room where Alice and Bella were playing chess. What a waste of time. Then again they did have forever.

"Hey Leah." Bella greeted me.

"Hello." Alice chimed.

"I got news about Jacob." I blurted out. I regretted it because all the snow white faces looked at me. "It's not good." Edward had already read my mind.

"What happened?" Bella was anxious.

"He shifted and is on his way as we speak."

"You didn't answer my question." Bella pointed out.

I hated when people did that. Take everything out on the messenger and not the person sending it. It's not my fault her filthy parasites caused so much trouble.

"Love, please calm down. It's already hard for her to come here. Please Leah speak."

I didn't understand how he could be so calm knowing his daughter had been kidnapped. I held my breath. I couldn't talk my voice deserted me.  The fright seemed to take over my body. Courage however came from my instincts, the memory of Renesmee leaving my arms and telling me 'goodbye'.
