Friday came quicker than I thought it would. Thursday though, that was weird. Tom and I avoided each other. He didn't have me do anything regarding the agreement either which was weird. I guess he hates me even more now.
I was in the bathroom getting ready. I had a nice black evening dress on. Elijah had texted me on Thursday, telling me he was taking me somewhere fancy. I wasn't a fancy person. This was a dress I bought then decided not to wear. It lived in the back of my closet.
I curled my hair and did my makeup to match my dress. I didn't recognize myself. I frowned. This isn't me. I walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs. "Oh my god, Alice, you look great!" Bill said. I nodded. "Thank you Bill." I told him.
I sat at the bottom step and put my shoes on. High heels. This isn't me. I said in my head. I stood up and looked at Bill. "Where is he taking you?" I shrugged. "He said he was taking me to a fancy restaurant." I replied. "I know you said I look great, Bill, but I don't feel like myself." I told him.
"I'm sorry Alice. Hang in there." He told me. I nodded. As Bill and I talked, the front door opened. It was Tom. He and I locked eyes. He left early this morning. He looked at my face and what I was wearing.
"Oh! I should get the camera!" Bill said as he ran off to somewhere in the house. I laughed. Tom walked over to me. "You look nice." He said. I nodded and rolled my eyes. "This isn't me. I'm probably going to fucking end up face planting on the concrete the minute I step outside the door." I said.
Bill came back with the camera. "I want a picture with the three of us." He said. "Bill, you do realize it's a date and not prom." I told him.
He nodded. "But I want to remember this. And I bet our fans will like it." He said I rolled my eyes as I stood between Tom and Bill. Bill using his height and his long arms to take the picture. "Tom take a picture of Alice and I." He said, handing the camera to Tom.
Tom rolled his eyes and took the picture. "Now you two in a picture." He said. I didn't mind that. "Why?" Tom asked as he stood next to me. "Two of my favorite people in one picture, now shut up and smile." Bill said. Tom and I both rolled our eyes and then Bill took the picture.
Eventually the door bell rang and Bill answered it. He let Elijah inside. He was dressed equally as nice as me, except he wasn't wearing a dress. "Elijah, this is Bill and Tom. Tom, Bill this is Elijah.
Elijah said it was nice to meet you and Bill returned the gesture. Tom just nodded. We said goodbye and Elijah and I walked to his car.
The restaurant was fancy. We were talking as we waited for our food. "So, I couldn't help but notice that you and Tom are very close. I looked at him. We didn't really bond at all growing up. We didn't knew slim to none about each other.
"How do you mean?" I asked. "Well, you two were standing next to each other before I got there, and continued to do so before we left, secondly, you talk the same, like you have the same vocabulary, and third, you have the same lip piercing." Elijah said.
"Tom, Bill, and I basically grew up together. I've never left their sides unless I had too. And as for the lip piercing, I kinda lost a bet with Tom." I explained as our food arrived.
"So, you got a body modification because of some silly little bet?" Elijah asked. I looked at him with furrowed eyebrows. This wasn't the same Elijah I met at the park or who was at my door that one midnight.
"Bill, Tom, and I take things very seriously sometimes, no matter the risk and no matter how stupid." I said, it wasn't true, but Elijah was basically shitting on them, especially Tom, and me.
"What do you guys do for a living? You don't have housing problems." He asked me. "Well, I'm an artist, and Bill and Tom are in a band with two of our other friends." I said.
"Oh." Is all he said. "What about you?" I asked him. "I run an animal shelter." He said. "That's nice." I said. He nodded. I didn't understand what his problem was. "Did you ever date Tom?" He asked out of no where. My eyes went wide. "What? No, he and Bill are just my best friends." Tom and I weren't friends, I think we're starting to be though.
"Look, Alice, I-this isn't working." He said. "Oh. No worries. I just, I just came from a rocky relationship, and I decided to get back out there, sorry it's not working." I responded. He nodded. "I am also sorry." He said. He asked for the check and paid.
He didn't even give me a ride home. I called a cab and went home. I took my heels off as soon as I walked out the restaurant. I paid the cab and walked to the front door, opening it. "Bill?" I called from the foyer. "He's not home." Tom said, walking out of the living room.
"Well, where'd he go?" I questioned. Tom shrugged. "I don't know, he's weird like that." "Both of you, are weird like that, you'll disappear without a word and then reappear. You two are like Houdini." I laughed.
"How'd it go?" He asked as I walked into the living room and flopped down on the couch. "Not like I expected. He was different. He wasn't a total gentleman. He didn't even give me a ride home. I didn't even have to tell him that it wasn't working, he said it first." I shrugged.
I sighed. I was tired. "I'm going to take a shower." I told Tom as I got up and started walking towards the stairs. "Wait." Tom said as he grabbed my wrist and turned me around to look at him. He was awful close.
"I-I'm sorry I've been a dick to you ever since I met you." He said. I looked at him. "Why?" I asked him. "Because, I don't hate you either." He told me. I smiled. "I'm glad we don't hate each other anymore. I don't know if Bill could keep up with us fighting about everything all the ti-" My sentence was cut off.
Could this really be fucking happening? Tom as in the Tom who always hated me and the Tom I always hated, kissed me. I couldn't keep myself from kissing him back.
A little bit after that, we both pulled away. "I-uhm. That just happened." I said. Tom nodded. "But we're supposed to hate each other." I said. "I know." Tom told me. But we don't hate each other. My eyes went wide. My brain finally processed everything that just went down.
"We don't Hate each other" Tom and I said at the same time. I told him we'd talk later and as soon as I was out of the living room, I booked it to the bathroom so I could take a shower, get changed and finally feel like myself again.
But I already felt like myself when I was with Tom. This is weird.
(A/N: the end of this chapter is my favorite)
