 Relationship Advice

What is her name? Why hadn't the doctor told me? I can't get that out of my mind. I'd like to know who she is. Was she from his university or his high school? or perhaps from his neighbourhood? My thoughts raced through my head like a wild horse. My mind had been dominated by my husband's mysterious first love, and I had entirely forgotten about the exam results due in a week.

My inner thoughts didn't get away from me even while doing chores, cleaning, cooking, and watching TV. What on earth is her name? I need to learn more about her as quickly as possible, or I'll burst with envy. As I swept the yard, I reflected.

"What happened, Sathya? You appear agitated. Was the exam really that difficult?" Aisha chechi inquired from her garden.

"No, chechi, I am ok. The exam was simple." As I began to talk, an unexpected thought occurred to me. I moved closer to both her and our house walls. "Chechi, I want to ask something," I said in a hushed tone.

"What is it?" she responded in the same way. Curious.

"Just picture what I'm going to say, Chechi. Imagine Rahim Chettan saying he had affection for another girl before you without naming her, but you truly want to know who she is. How will you put it? How will you ask him?" I sought guidance from an experienced wife, my eyes shining with eagerness.

"Pfft! Did Bala chettan mention another girl to you, Sathya? I can see your face dancing with jealousy," she responded with a chuckle.

"This isn't a joke, chechi, please reply. I'm desperate. I can't even focus on anything. Please," I pleaded, just as I used to do with my sister.

"Ok, Ok. Don't cry. Tell me what he said first, and I'll tell you how to approach him," she leaned against the wall while adjusting her head veil.

"So, when he mentioned the two girls, he felt something. I know from his comments that the second female is me, but I am covetous of the first. I'd like to know who she is. He just ignored the question. I'm sure he loved her, which is why he waited so long to marry," I told Aisha chechi everything. I was convinced that she would be able to come up with something because she had more experience in family life than I have, and she had a great bond with her spouse despite their huge age difference.

"Hmm... the first girl, every man has a first girl. I, too, had the first guy in my life. Isn't it fortunate that he never revealed his affection for her? And he became truthful with you. Perhaps he doesn't want to reveal her identity to you or perhaps he doesn't want to recall it because it happened a long time ago and he wishes to forget it. Anyway, Sathya, he's opening his heart to you right now, so wait a little longer and he'll tell you eventually." Her lovely grin and response warmed my heart. Yes, she is correct; I was overthinking things. Whatever his background may have been, he is now mine; he is my husband, and I am his wife. I gave Aisha Chechi a kind grin.

Ring... Ring... Ring... Ring...

After hearing the noise of our phone, I parted ways with Aisha chechi. I dashed in and grabbed it, assuming it was him.

"Hello"...

"Hello, ayi Sathya, nyapakam iruka di ?(Hey Sathya, do you remember?)" It was the vibrant sound of my best friend Durga.

"Durga!" In ecstasy, I exclaimed. My mood abruptly altered. It was as though I needed to hear her voice. I was overjoyed. Friends are the most powerful mood shifters in your life. They truly understand how to cope with you better than you do.

"Sathya, I heard about your exam from your Appa. I am thrilled for you. As I often say, my Sathya is quite lucky, and I am pleased to hear that you are pursuing your dream," she said in her low bird's voice.

"Hmm... Durga eppovume right-u. (Durga is always right) I am so lucky because I got a friend like you." I replied smiling

"You are flattering me, idiot, but I don't mind. Keep going, Ha Ha Ha"... She told. She doesn't change at all. Same old Durga I thought.

"Aama, Aama, (yes, yes) tell me why you called?"

"Di, I'm getting married to Mama in a few weeks. Our families decided on a wedding date yesterday. I did send you a wedding invitation. But I'm not sure when you'll get it. That is why I phoned you. You and your doctor-husband must arrive at least two days before my wedding, do you understand?" she stated authoritatively. Of course, she is an excellent leader, adept at commanding others, even her mama. She is a dominant lady. I am concerned about her future children.

"You're getting married, congratulations. I will certainly come, and you are not permitted to marry without my presence," I responded.

"Amma Daivame, (Mother Goddess) I will not dare to, haha. You must come here on time," She laughed.

"Of course, I won't miss your big day. I will be there like you stood beside me always,"

"Tell me about yourself, Sathya. Are you happy with him? Your Amma informed me that he is taking wonderful care of you and even letting you study. Is he like a movie hero?" With a sweet tone, she inquired.

"He is, indeed, a good man. He understands me and looks after me. But he still treats me like a child," I complained.

"Ehh? Really? Is that so, did you mean nothing occurred between you two? Do you know your Amma is expecting a child?" she inquired. I was astonished. It's normal for them to act this way.

"I am aware, but I want to study more, and he has never touched my body in that manner," I reddened as I said that.

"Huh! I've never seen a man like your husband before. My mama continually finds reasons to touch me here and there. Did he ever express his affection for you?" She inquired.

"Well, he hasn't, yet, but he did say yesterday that he is waiting until the right moment. Perhaps soon," that made me flush again.

"You are his wife, Sathya, and you must act as one. What if someone attempts to steal him away from you? He is a handsome doctor who works with attractive Kerala nurses. Although I'm not predicting it, it may happen, so seize your land right away. Make him yours before anyone appears. Make him your love slave. Always be equal in a relationship," Durga's advice was exactly the reverse of what Aisha chechi gave me. But I felt compelled to follow Durga's directions. What if he re-encounters his first love? I pondered.

"You're right, I need to be strong," I said. I resolve to be a strong wife. I need to act above my age in order to make our relationship stay. I am capable of doing it. I am a lioness, is that even appropriate to say at this moment? Blush. What am I thinking?
