(Tom POV)

We arrived back at Derek's place and emptied all the autopsy reports onto the table, all of them scattering in different directions. Immediately, Derek began reading through them at a steady pace, letting us know when we need to write anything important down for later. As we got through the reports, I noticed that Isabelle was looking more and more queasy as Derek went on, and I can't blame her, I felt the same after hearing (Y/N)'s.

Derek: Victim name: (Y/N) (L/N). Time of death: 3:40 PM. Time of discovery: 5:05 PM. Cause of death: Large X slash found on the chest. Additional info: Unidentified fingerprints found on neck, shoulders, and arms.

Jesus, you'd think after seeing it I'd be fine, but no, even hearing the autopsy report gets me tearing up, and Kyle's feeling the same as me, except he can't hold it in, as he's currently crying into my shoulder. Poor guy. After hearing (Y/N)'s and the rest, we began to look at our notes, trying to find any links that can put these murders together.

So far, all that we found out is that each victim looks pale as a ghost, have some kind of mark on their chest, and a suspicious looking disc was always found at the scene of the crime. The only thing that didn't make sense was the marking part, since the one on (Y/N) is an X, while the other victims had a number on them. Just as we were gonna continue searching, I got a call on my phone, and noticed it was from Cole, so I picked it up.

Tom: What is it, Cole?

Cole: I'm going on a limb and guessing you got the autopsy reports, right?

Tom: Yes. All that we found for similarities was how everyone looks pale, strange marks on the bodies, and the suspicious disc always found. Is this important?

Cole: Correct, especially the part about the disc. Turn on speaker so everyone can hear.

Tom: (taps a button) There. Turned on speaker mode.

Cole: Thanks. Now listen carefully. The disc is important, as it's related to the Cult of X. They plant the disc in any location. Video game stores, pawn shops, charity events, garage sales, even the black market. Whatever poor soul gets the game is the Cult's next target.

Tom: But why mark their bodies? And why is (Y/N)'s different?

Cole: For the markings, it's to appease someone called "X", who they look up to in some sadistic way. As for your friend, my only theory is that X really look a liking to him, and actually killed him off himself, which may explain the weird marking. Anyway, I gotta go. I have a feeling someone's trying to spy on me.

Tom: Thanks, Cole. See ya.

I hang up the call and look towards the others, who all look as shocked as I am, as now we begin doing some theory crafting. Apparently, this cult is causing all this pain, being responsible for all this death. But then I remember something, the name X. During (Y/N)'s funeral, that Shannon person, she spoke of him, like a priest praising their lord.

How did she know about him? Unless...

(Daniel POV)

I finish my shower and put on a fresh pair of clothes, walking back to my computer, as something catches my attention, and that the game is suddenly working again. I quickly rush over to my computer trying to turn it off once more, but a message pops up.

"Beat this game, and then this can end"

I narrow my eyes, knowing that whatever's in the game won't let me quit that easily, before giving out a sigh and sitting back down in the chair, waiting for the game to finish loading. Eventually, the words "Robotropolis" appear, as my character is revealed to be Antoine, in what appears to be some kind of metallic city, I'm guessing this is Robotropolis. The music for this place really sounded scary, with metal clanging against itself, gears creaking, and not to mention sinister laughter being present constantly. It really got me shaking.
