Kaylee:

I ended up getting to work a little late due to the ghost problem.  Since I've been working for the palace as a servant for a while by now, I've been promoted to a chef in the kitchen as well as server for food and drink.  It's been a while since I've been promoted, but sometimes it seems like it's better than being a scullery maid.  It has been a nice change of pace, but still pretty stressful.  You have to wake up extra early so you can make breakfast for everyone, and it can be  to make the food.

Anyways, I got to work, got scolded by the head chef and started making breakfast for everyone along with a few other workers in the kitchen as well.  As usual, it took a while for everything to be ready.  I hope the food will be good and that I'll be able to have a good breakfast.

I'm always busy with kitchen duty.  There would be cooking, cleaning, and washing dishes at the least.  Oh!  And you can't forget the part about serving it to everyone to eat before I can eat.

Today's breakfast on the menu is pancakes with syrup and bacon.  Imagine trying to cook that much food for everyone in the palace.  This includes not just the royals, but the servants and whoever else is possibly in the castle before I can even have the chance of having scraps to eat.  Whew!

Somehow, after managing to feed everyone breakfast for the morning, I managed to eat some food this morning with the kitchen staff.

Afterwards, we cleaned up the dining room and then the kitchen.  After cleaning up the mess in the kitchen, we washed the dishes which were a lot.  Then it was back to making lunch.  First was prep, then was the making the food, and then the cooking.  Next came the setting of the tables, because there were multiple tables for a ridiculous number of people to eat at, and then once everyone came in, they had their food served.

Lunch today was Chicken Noodle Soup and garlic bread.  Once everyone was served it was the same cycle over again.  Dinner however, had a bit of an episode involving Princess Iris.  Here's pretty much how it went:

"Look what you did, servant!  You spilled my food on my dress!" Lila yelled at one of the servers.  "Bow down and apologize, now!" she stressed the word 'now', and pointed downward on the ground indicating for the servant to bow down on the ground and apologize to her.

The servant immediately kneeled on the floor, kowtowing at her apologizing and asking her for her forgiveness.

Lila just sat there in her seat with an impassive stare at the servant.  She waited for the servant to finish apologizing and asking for forgiveness while all the servants, including me, held our breaths and watched the scene playing in front of us.

Devon started to stand up from his seat and leaned over the table and said to Iris, "That's enough, Lila.  Stop it now."  His eyes were serious when looking at Lila.

She looked at her brother for about a second or two before turning back to look at the servant still bowing down at her and spat, "Fine.  Get up.  You're lucky my brother was here to help you out."

The servant stood up and then quickly turned and walked away as fast as possible without causing more trouble for themselves.

Devon watched as she left with tears in her eyes, presumably to the bathroom.  He turned to look at his younger sister once again for a few seconds and then sat back down and focused on finishing his food.

The servants all let out the breaths we were holding, thanking our lucky stars that this incident only escalated to this and not to something worse, like the girl servant being fired, or worse.

Everyone at the table who stopped eating went back to eating and then excused themselves for the night.

This is where the incident ends.

Me and my kitchen co-workers finished up with our kitchen and cleaning up the dining room  duties after having our dinner.

Afterwards, I went to my room and changed clothes before heading to the library to practice my dragon tamer abilities with my ghost mentors.

Devon:

As I entered the meeting room, I saw the same people from the meeting regarding planning for taking care of the dragon problem there, waiting for me, staring at me as I came in and sat down.  This time we were all sitting down, chatting instead of the usual standing up and looking at a board on the table.

"So, have you started yet?  The meeting I mean," I asked the men in the room.

They all turned to look at each other and then back to me and the one in charge of archery answered, "No, Your Majesty.  We were all waiting patiently for you."  They all nodded at his response.

"Well, then, let's get this meeting started," I said, and we got right down to it.

"We were interrupted a while back by the dragon at the contest, but now we're out of time.  We were lucky that it seemed like the dragon has been taking breaks every now and again from terrorizing us humans, but its attacks have been becoming more frequent as of late.  We need to somehow take care of that dragon here and now," I told everyone.  They were all paying extremely close attention to me and what I said.  "The problem is, we don't have any way to permanently deal with the dragon.  We haven't been able to find any dragon tamer yet," I commented.  "Do you have any idea about what to do?" I asked them.  This time I would definitely consider their input.

When we mentioned me going to war before, my father, the king, at least wasn't very pleased about it.  This time, I'm open for more suggestions.  Allowing for me to still have the option of going to war if needed, of course.

We threw around some ideas here and there, but nothing seemed to work in the end.

"Well, I guess I'll just go to fight the dragon and hopefully bring along some competent people.  You know, now that I think about it, do we have a blacksmith that can create weapons that will affect dragons around here by any chance?" I just now thought of this question.  I moved my right arm in a graceful arc and held my head in my hand.  "Why didn't I think of this before?" I laughed like I was an idiot.

The men looked at each other and then looked at me warily.  This was a rare occurrence for me to put on.  Even my father showed a bit more of concern than usual for me.

I stopped laughing.

"That's it!  We'll find a blacksmith and have him make us weapons that will hurt the dragon, even if it's just a little.  We'll pay him of course.  Anything that's able to affect the dragon by hurting it or somehow taking care of the dragon problem is highly welcome."

"Yes, Your Highness," the leader of the spearmen answered my earlier question.  "We do have a skilled blacksmith around here.  The only question is, is he skilled enough for the task we'd ask him to do or not?"

"Well, the only way to find out is to ask him, and that's what we're going to do.  Tomorrow," I told them.  "And you're all coming with me."  They looked at each other and then me in surprise.  "I'll see you right after we finish eating breakfast in the morning.  Don't be late," I said pointing at them.  "Meeting dismissed," I looked at my father to see if he approved to end this meeting here, and he nodded.  Everyone left to go to lunch.  We were done for the day and I decided to go to practice my sword by myself a bit before going to the library for dinner.

At dinner, Lila made a scene and I was appalled by how severe it was.  She didn't need to go that far.  Sure, maybe she could have done a little bit of what she did, but in my opinion, she went a little too far.

Dinner finished, and I left for the library.  It was a place of peace and quiet, and I needed it as well as to brush up on my studying.  Maybe research more on the history of dragon tamers, or on the blacksmithing of magical objects, and what the magical objects of the past could do.

Well, it's time to learn, I thought after finding a book on dragon tamers, and another on blacksmithing and their past magical items.  I found a seat at an empty table, and sat down in it.  I set my books down on top of the table, picked one up, and brought it in front of me.  Let's get down to it, I thought and I opened up the book and began reading.
