Kaylee:
I woke up from my dream in a cold sweat, sat up, and was pretty sure that I was also screaming. I could feel my heart racing. I looked around me to gain my bearings. I admit, that I had a pretty scary and confusing dream. I mean, what was up with everything?! I didn't go back to sleep that night. Instead, I decided to get up and move around even if that was with me being in my pj's. I didn't want to stay still for too long and so I decided to leave my room-that was still in shambles by the way-and go for a fast paced walk in the palace. I was going to go exploring.
I left my room and turned left once out the door. I continued to walk straight until I met at the end of the hallway. From there, I went right and tried to open the first door on my left. Unsurprisingly enough, it turned out that it was locked. Frustrated, I let out a sigh and tried the door right across from it. This door was locked too, and so were so many others that I tried after it. All the way down this one hallway the doors were locked. Not one single door was unlocked. Getting rather annoyed and irritated by this turn of events I made another right turn at the end of the hallway. I tried the double-doors on the first door on the right and "lo and behold!" it opened. The doors didn't open with even the slightest creak, but were silent as silence itself. That shocked me because I thought that even though it's a palace and probably even taken care of constantly by servants, I figured that it would at least make some noise when opening the door. The only noise it made was the click! noise of turning the door knob and allowing the door to open. Pushing it open didn't cause any noise at all.
I entered through the doors and took in my surroundings. It looked like this was the palace library, or one of many palace libraries. I walked around the library, looking on the book shelves as I walked by. There were so many genres of books here. There was history, magic, and more too. I wanted to remember this place, so I studied it.
There was a book that caught my eye on one of the shelves. I couldn't help myself, I reached over to the shelf, grabbed and pulled the book off the shelf. It was a book on the history of this kingdom, Havenworth, and other kingdoms too. The kingdoms in this world are many. There's Havenworth, which is ours. There's also Mexencall, which is to the west of us. To the east of us there's the kingdom of Geordton. To the north of us there's Derenthfield. To the south there's Ashenshire. To the northwest of us, there's Triadworsh. The kingdom that's to the northeast of us is Rodensland. Heading to the southwest of us is the Jerarden kingdom. And finally, to the southeast of us there's Queshinpop. These are the nine kingdoms throughout the world, and there is a history to each one which I hope to find out what in this book here.
"I wonder what information I'll gain from reading this book on the history of the nine kingdoms," I mumbled to myself. I was looking at the cover of the book. I looked at the title and it said "History of the Nine Kingdoms and their Genealogy". This book looked really interesting. I opened the book and tried to find a place to sit, looking in between reading every few words.
I eventually found a place to sit down and read, but when I actually started paying attention to what it was saying, I was surprisingly disappointed in it. There was talk about wars and about how much better each kingdom is then the others. This book was written by multiple people. Each kingdom had its history written down by someone who lived in that kingdom themselves, so they each thought that their kingdom was the best one.
"Well, this is great! This is like a bunch of compiled essays from multiple people, each saying how much better their kingdom is from the others! This was so disappointing." I hung my head and shook it while heaving a big sigh. I decided to just go to the genealogy sections of the book and look at them, but before I could do that I heard the clock strike five in the morning.
"Oh, no! It's time for me to go to work! I'm going to be late, and then I'll be punished by boss lady!" I closed the book and set it back on the shelf where I found it and hurried out of the library. I didn't realize that someone had been watching me out in the darkness, peeking between the shelves.
Devon:
I left my room right after I woke up. I needed some thinking to do. I went through hallways and decided to go to one of my favorite hiding places where I can have some peace and quiet. The library. Once I got there, I noticed that the doors weren't closed. I guess that since the doors weren't locked to begin with-because of my orders which is to always have the library doors unlocked, no matter what-that there was the slightest chance that someone might be able to break in to it eventually. This is what I get for that. I went inside, desperately hoping that I won't get attacked by someone, and there I spy a girl. In her pj's no less! Well, I guess that I'm one to talk, since I'm the same way at the moment. I decided to see what she was doing, so I closed the door that was opened behind me and hid behind one of the book shelves. She was just reading. I tried to make out the letters to the title of the book, but couldn't quite do it. In the end, I just decided to give up and watch what she does.
I loved the faces that she made during these very few minutes of me watching her. I don't usually spy on people, but this time was an exception. I wanted to know why she was here and what she was up to. I only watched her for about five minutes. At the end of the five minutes she seemed startled and ended up leaving in what was probably as quickly as she could. I just stood there watching her go.
She didn't close the door again, and so I ended up closing it behind me when I left the library. I ended up hurrying to the place I needed to go too. But first, I needed to change! After all, I was still in my pj's.
