Devon:
"I'm a dragon tamer," Kaylee repeated.
I reeled at the information and held my head.
I didn't hear wrong. This is terrible! This shouldn't have happened! I don't want her to have the possible thought of joining in the battle to take care of that rampaging dragon attack, I thought in a panic.
I removed my hand from my face and congratulated her through gritted teeth with a smile, "Congratulations, Kaylee. I'm so happy for you."
"Yeah! Thanks!" She gave a couple of bounces on the balls of her feet. "Now I don't have to lie to you anymore about going to battle to fight the evil dragon!" she admitted while smiling to me.
I looked at her face in shock.
She lied to me about agreeing not to go into battle?
I didn't want to believe it, but she just admitted to it, and it didn't seem like she would lie about lying.
"Well, I guess I'd better get going for the night. It's my bedtime and all. Gotta go to the blacksmith in the morning," I told her in chopped speaking as I turned to leave. I needed to go and think about everything. She looked like she wanted to grab me but I just put my hand out and waved as I walked out of the library for the night.
I walked through the hallways and entered my room for the night and got ready for bed.
I laid down in bed and turned to my side and thought about what transpired in the library.
I didn't remember when I went to sleep, but I did remember I had a dream.
Kaylee:
I watched as Devon turned to go. I wanted to grab his arm and say something. Perhaps even explain why I would lie to him in the first place. What I would plan to do from now on. But I never did as I watched him leave from where I stood. I'm sure I had a sad expression as he left. I hung my head down.
What should I do? I thought. I shook my head. I didn't know. Next time I meet him, I'll talk to him about the lying and whatever else comes up, but right now I had to leave. It was getting late, and I had work tomorrow.
"I'll be sure to practice more on how to use my dragon abilities," I said to the ghost that hovered beside me. I looked at them and asked, "How do I stop the connection with the dragon if I don't close my eyes?"
They looked back at me, and the female ghost told me with her index finger pointed in the air, "All you have to do is just stop thinking about the connection. Just let your mind go. This should all take practice. You'll get it eventually if you continue to try."
I nodded, turned, and left the library.
I walked through the halls taking whatever needed turns to find my room.
I entered my room and got ready for bed. I laid in bed and turned on my side, thinking.
I fell asleep and had a dream.
