Devon:

Everything was dark.  There was black all around me and all I could see was myself.

I looked at my hands in front of me.  I turned my hands over once, twice, and then looked up, searching for any kind of light even though I knew there was none since there wasn't any a few seconds ago.

All of a sudden, I heard this song sung by a beautiful, female voice.  For some reason it sounds very familiar.  Like I've heard this song and voice before.

"There are roses in the sky,

Thorns are bright as day,

Here comes a lass,

And the lad shies away.

Here under the sun,

The sun is shining bright,

Joining him from home,

The lad will get a fright.

Coming this way,

Going that way,

Joins us in this song,

And come and join along.

I go this way,

And you go that way,

Daring to try and take a risk,

They both want the kiss.

She protects you,

And he protects you,

Joining hands forever,

They will be incredibly clever.

This is the story,

Hope you don't find it boring,

Come and join us,

We are sure to make a fuss."

I follow the sound of the voice and then see a bright light shining forth in the distance.

I run forward and enter the light, only to find a girl dressed in a beautiful white dress with blue cloth close to its ends and a bow tie tied around her waist.  She was barefoot and looked to be around my age.

I tried to walk up to her as she was looking away.

As I came close she turned around and I could see the smile on her face, but her body was completely black.

Slowly however, I could start to see what she looked like, and I was surprised by what I saw.

I leaned back in surprise and saw that it was Kaylee.

She closed up the distance between us and said to me bending forward with her hands held together behind her back, "This is our story."

"Don't forget Devon."  She closed her eyes, leaned into me, and kissed me on the lips, "I love you."

Then everything went black once more.

Kaylee:

I saw my adoptive parents in front of me to my right.

I walked up to them and first hugged my dad, and then my mom.

I looked up at my mom, still hugging her, and asked her, "Is it true?  Is what I read true?  That I'm actually royalty, and that my other family is dead?"

She looked sad and replied while lightly touching my head, "Yes, honey, it is.  You were brought to an orphanage as a baby after a rebellion took place in your old kingdom.  The kingdom right next to ours.  The Pirate Kingdom.

It is just as it says for the kingdom.  It's a kingdom for pirates, and Honey, remember, pirates aren't to be trusted.  Not that you'll ever meet one in the future I suppose, but these are just facts," she warned me with her index finger pointed up in the air.

"I love you.  We love you.  Remember that," she told me.

"It's true, Sweetie.  We both love you very much, although I probably wasn't the best at showing it when I was alive," my dad came over and hugged both me and Mom.

My face crumpled and I cried.  Mom cried.  Dad cried.  We all cried while hugging each other like it was the last time we'll meet each other ever again.  It was a true goodbye.  We loved each other and would never meet again, even in my dreams.

I managed to get out an, "I love you guys so much.  I miss you so much."

"Will we ever meet again?" I managed to ask hopefully.

"Yes, Sweetie.  But it'll have to be in the Afterlife, when you are dead," my mom said.

I didn't like that answer but I had to accept it.

My mom kissed the top of my hair and I fell asleep hearing her last words, "Goodnight, Sweetie, and goodbye."
