Aiden Williamson
I was waiting outside, for cleaners to clean the room, while Anna was taking care of Hazel. Anna is the caretaker of this house and my nanny since my parents died. She has grown old now but she always refuses to take retirement. She told me it is the only work she has I offered her retirement money but she also refused it. She says she loves this house and wants to be with Terry and me till her last breath. She loved us as her child and had always been there when Terry and I needed her. Her motherly nature was perfect to calm Hazel down.
I do not know if Hazel was afraid or she was just defending herself but she did not do anything to Anna. Anna held her and she did not fight her off, she let her care for her. I saw a feeling of need in her eyes but her body was frozen to the spot maybe she was analyzing something but I felt she wanted someone to care but could not help herself to trust someone else.
She was slowly becoming the puzzle I desperately wanted to solve.
I had read just a few pages of her diary, which I found on the bridge that night, strangely the girl I felt in between the pages and the girl I saw right now was very different like an opposite version of the same story. That made me wonder, what happened in her life.
Cleaner cleaned the room just as it was before. I saw at the same spot she was standing before, near the balcony while threatening us with a glass piece. Her hand was bleeding but there was no sign of pain on her face. I suddenly remember her face; the big brown eyes staring at me, her skin appeared soft which was not too far but just as perfect; her brown hair was just falling onto her shoulders. Her light pink lips were clenched when she was staring at me but I could see the softness in them. I remember her sarcastic smile when she laughed at my words, which made me think about what her real smile, would feel like.
Then the bathroom door opened and Hazel entered the room following Anna.
"The cut is not too deep, so it doesn't need stitching. I have bandaged it. It will take some days to heal it," Anna said to me, I nodded while looking at Hazel's hand. "Can you bring her some painkillers and food to eat?" I told Anna so that I could have some time alone with Hazel. "Yes, of course," Anna said, she was smart enough to take my hint.
When she left the room I asked Hazel most calmly, as possible, "If you are feeling okay, can I have a moment to talk?" unfortunately she did not respond. She was just looking outside of the balcony while the glass door was open. I sensed her intention, "I think it's the most ridiculous way to die. We are just a few feet above ground, it's not too high," I told her while analyzing her every move in case she do something stupid. "I know, I wasn't even thinking of it," she said breaking the silence but her eyes were still outside. "But jumping from this much height can also cause death if you fall head first," she said firmly, finally meeting her eyes with me while proving me wrong. I laughed lightly and said, "Yeah maybe".
"Can I have a moment to talk?" I asked her again since she seemed to be in a talking mood.
"Yeah maybe", she said in my tone.
I told her to sit on the bed, firstly she hesitated but she sits finally. I sat on the sofa chair opposite the bed cause' I do not want to make her uncomfortable. "So let me introduce myself first, I am Aiden Williamson. I am the CEO of the Williamson Group of companies. Right now you are in New York..." "What do you want from me Aiden?" she asked me directly, practically not interested in the introduction. "I want you to work for me," I told her straightforwardly neglecting all the questions I have about her. "Why do you think I will work for you? I am not interested in your companies; I don't even have any major qualifications to work in business." She said to me but her words made me laugh.
"I am not asking you to work at my companies," I told her, taking our conversation to a serious turn.
