Y/N's POV

After the drama with Crowley was over Castiel and I had gotten a couple of pizza's and taken them back to the bunker where I was told the stories about Sam and Dean who both went to Hell, and even how Dean went to Purgatory. I also heard about their brother Adam and couldn't believe that they had gone through so much in their lives, but it made me appreciate them both much more and I was feeling that I was really becoming one of the family.

Sam had looked worried on and off during the night and I decided I had had enough and facing him I finally asked, "What is wrong Sam?"

Looking at my hand with the 'Sweet Dreams' ring upon it Sam said, "That ring. I've been meaning to tell you that you need to take it off"

Castiel was the one that spoke before I could and his voice carried a note of anger, "Why Sam?"

"I did some research, and it isn't as sweet as the name suggests"

I met his eyes and I could see that he looked really concerned, "What did you find out?"

He took a deep breath and we all looked at him expectantly, "That ring, yes, it does help you shape your dreams and as you have become aware, it will allow you to bring people into your dreams"

"Yes. It's been helpful a few times" I told him, but noting that he wanted to say more I asked, "What are you worried about Sam?"

Holding his right hand out to me from across the table he gently asked, "Please take it off"

Castiel suddenly got defensive and snapped, "You are taking the one thing from her that stops her from the nightmares? You are forcing her to go back to them once again?"

I reached out with my left hand and squeezed Castiel's hand, "It's ok Castiel. I have you to stop the nightmares, remember?" I let go of Castiel's hand, slipped the ring from my finger and placing it onto Sam's open palm I met his eyes.

He closed his hand around it and smiled weakly at me, "I'm sorry that I have to do this, but the longer you wore it, the worse it was-"

"What Sammy?" Dean snapped at him, obviously as frustrated with him as we were all getting.

"For every night that Y/N wore the ring she was being drained of one year of her life"

We all stared at him, shocked, but it was Dean who spoke first, "What the hell Sam. How long have you known?"

"I first read about it the night Y/N was taken by Sarah and Issac"

"Two nights ago?" Dean interrupted sounding mad and I had never seen him so angry, especially with Sam, "She's lost two more years of her life because you didn't speak up?"

"That was why I wanted the meeting at the Café, and we got side tracked with the visit to the bank as we were kind of busy with the whole going to Hell thing Dean that I didn't manage to do more research until early this morning, before we went to the bank"

Dean looked at him surprised, "No Sam! Something like that does not wait until there's time to sit and talk about it sweetly. It's the thing you snatch off her finger the second you see her" he was yelling as he was pointing at me and I could see the worry that he had for me.

"Hey, it's ok" I said as I reached out and grabbed Dean's left hand in both of mine, "It's off now Dean"

Snatching his hand from me he crossed his arms over his chest as he sat back against the back of the chair and glared at Sam. I felt Castiel put his arm around behind me, his hand on my upper right arm and then he moved closer, so I fell against him slightly as he said, "I'm sorry Y/N"
