Seolyeon, in all honesty, had absolutely no fucking clue where they were. The trees had slowly faded away as they neared endless grasslands, and she was only now realizing just how vast the world was.

A part of her was wary of the firebender that lead her—without a map, no less. Yet, she chose to trust him, only for the fact that he hadn't left her to the dust just a day prior.

She'd been wanting to question him, interrogate him for everything that had happened at the phony market. Though, she realized he didn't do much to hide his element other than simply not using it.

Only firebenders sought and admired the blistering heat of the sun that could harm our skin. Only they would refuse to even glance at the moon, finding their bodies seemingly weakened, preferring sleep.

Seolyeon continued to gaze at the boy as they walked around. Her eyes were softened without animosity, yet intense with curiosity.

Jungwon's footsteps slowly came to a stop as he turned, his eyes sharp as he looked at her. "If you have questions, just ask."

She didn't guard her gaze nor change her stance—it was Jungwon who immediately relaxed, noticing the lack of animosity in her eyes. Is she an idiot?

He hadn't the faintest idea of why she stared at him with anything but disgust. He'd lied straight to her face. His kingdom attacked the innocent Eastern Air Temple. Even if that wasn't Seolyeon's home, those were her people.

She had every right to be suspicious of him or even go as far as to despise him, just as the others did.

Yet, he only saw a never-ending curiosity in those crystalline eyes.

As such, he couldn't do anything except relax.

Seolyeon simply shook her head, a soft sigh escaping her cracked lips.

"Where are we?"

Jungwon found the question to be far more daunting than if she'd simply interrogated him for his intentions. He couldn't read her—and perhaps, that's what truly unsettled his heart. He couldn't understand her motives. He searched through waves of deceit and lies for an answer to her actions, yet he was met with silence. He simply couldn't believe that she was being genuine.

"A few hours from the Northern Water Tribe," he finally responded. His breath was rather heavy, and discomfort seemed to weigh upon his shoulders.

Seolyeon decided that now was probably the best time for a confrontation—she didn't know when he'd willingly answer her questions again.

"So, you're a firebender?" she finally asked.

There it was. The dreaded question he was pleading her to ask without uttering a word. Jungwon nodded his head slowly.
