"Um, can I get your name?" He asked. He being the one who saved me.

"Lola." I answer. This
boy. This angel. He took me in. He comforted me when I cried like a child.

And now I was in his house. On his couch. In nothing but my soaked jeans and t-shirt.

"I'm Marcus." He told me with a kind smile.

I looked around his house which was built the same as mine, but different furniture. It was cozy. I heard Marcus say something but I was too distracted looking at pictures on the wall.

"Ahem..." He cleared his throat and my attention shot to him.

"Oh, sorry." I said with a sorry smile.

"It's fine love, I was just wondering if you wanted some tea?" He asked with a kettle in his hand.

"Sure." I said and took the teacup he then handed me.

Marcus sat on an armchair across from the couch and sipped his tea. I did the same.

"How long have you lived across from me? Because I haven't seen you around here." He asked me.

"Well... I j-just moved here." I said with a gulp. I never had so much communication with a stranger so quick before.

"Oh I see. By the way I placed your bags over there" he pointed to a small table near the door.

"Thanks. I got a n-new dress. " I stuttered out.

"Well I'm sure you will look great in it." He complemented me and I almost choked on my tea.

"Oh..uh thanks" I said with a small smile. Was that flirting?

"Why don't you sleep. You seem super tired. I will call the key place and have them make a key for you, okay?" He said with such ease. Why was he being so kind to plain old me?

"Thank you so much." I responded.

MARCUS POV

I watched as she drifted off to sleep. I had to admit, Lola was attractive. Blue eyes. Brunette hair. Perfect really. I'm so proud of myself for bringing her in.

I got up out of my chair and grabbed her empty tea cup and brought it to the sink when I noticed I had a lot of dishes to do.

As I was scrubbing a plate, I heard a knock at my door and cursed at them in my head for banging so loud. They could have woken Lola.

I opened to the door to find a woman about 30 years older than me with an umbrella over her head.

"Can I help you?" I asked her, but in a low voice so I wouldn't wake Lola.

"Yes, you see, my name is Cara. Cara Duggins. And my daughter is Lola Duggins. She had depression and she just moved out and-"

"Lola is your daughter?" I interrupted her curious to learn more. I didn't know she had depression.

"Yes. Anyway, I am kinda worried about how she will do out here in the real world all by herself, and I want you to do me a favor." She said quickly. "Oh also, could I have your name?" She added

"I'm Marcus... and you are telling me you can't trust your own daughter?" I asked with a hint of anger in my voice.

"Considering she is sleeping on your couch 3 hours after she moved in, yes." She said gritting her teeth and looking behind me at the couch where Lola laid peacefully.

"You need to date her." She said.

"Hold up, date her?" I said confused. I mean, Lola is beautiful and great but isn't this a bit sudden?

"Yes! I want you to make sure she is fine and stuff you know?" She said with concern. I guess only a protective mother would do something this crazy.

"How long?" I asked.

"I don't know, don't break her heart though. I will slaughter you." She said in all seriousness. I just blinked and nodded.

"Alright honey give me your number." She demanded with her hand out. I quickly found a sticky note and a pen and scribbled down my cell phone number. Before I could ask anything  else she left as quick as she came.

Was I really going to do this? What if she found out? Oh god, poor Lola.
