Carmen

I am totally surprised that Willow followed me. We are almost to the Mini Mall when my pocket starts vibrating. Pulling out my phone I see my moms face smiling at me. Great, just what I needed. Pressing the accept button, I put the phone to my ear.

"What?" I ask. The reason why I showed up so early at Willow'a house is because I got into a fight with my parents. I fight regularly with my parents, and the reason I think they hound on everything I do is so that they won't yell at each other. But I like my parents together and not divorced so I take it. Sure I fight back, but I have to release my anger somehow.

"Don't harp that tone with me, missy. When are you coming home?" My mom sounds like she still hasn't forgiven me for whatever I did to piss her off.

"An hour maybe. I'll just text you." I pull my phone away and hang up before my mother can answer. If I had it my way I would never go back. I would run away, take to the skies and never look back. But unfortunately, I can't have things my way.

We walk into the Mini Mall, me carrying my skateboard along. Willow left her bike outside. I see Jordan sitting at a table and sucking on a smoothie inside. Hey, I might've just found a way to brighten my mood after all.

I order a white chocolate fudgie then slide into the seat across from him. "Hey, Jordan!" He looks up from his phone and smile when he sees me.

"Carmen, hi!" He sits up straighter just as Willow walks over with my fudgie and one for herself. Jordan looks over at her and smiles. "Hey... I am sorry, but I don't know your name."

Willow's cheeks turn a bright pink. "Wi-willow. My name is Willow." I look between the two of them and decide to play a little matchmaker. They both look like they have no idea what to do.

"Well, Jordan, why don't you be a gentlemen and help Willow into her seat?" He looks over at me surprised as I smile sweetly. His cheeks turn red. He jumps up and pulls out Willow's seat and she gently sits in it.

"Carmen, don't," Willow mumbles under her breath.

"Nonsense!" I say, reaching forward and grabbing my fudgie from her hand. "It's a common curtesy!"

"Yeah," she says. "One not practiced nowadays."

"The old is the new new. In fact..." I say. I jump up out of my seat. "A toast!" I yell. I put my fudgie up and Jordan laughs before he raises his like mine. After a moment of contemplating, Willow moves her drink up next to ours. "To a blooming friendship." I smile as I toast.

"To not being normal," Jordan says his toast. We both look over at Willow.

"To old traditions," as she finishes her toast we all take a drink. Willow looks over at me over her drink. I smile and get the treasure of getting one back.
