Willow

I quickly tap my foot and look at the clock, just an hour before the Masquerade Ball and my dress has yet to arrive. "Mom, I don't think it's gonna make it." I look at her in the mirror, silently curling my hair. She smiles and shakes her head.

"It can't be late if it's already here," I look at her confused and as if to answer my question my dog barks loudly signaling that someone is here, loud knocking to follow.

"How did you know?" I look at her wildly.

"I heard them hit that huge dip in front of our house," She smiles then sets down the curling iron. "Now go get your dress,"

I nod my head and jump out of the chair and run towards the door. I open the door excitedly and practically rip the large white box from the UPS man and leave my mom to do any of the signing. I run up to my room and set the box on my bed. Carefully, I lift the lid open and pull out the dress. I quickly change into it and look in the mirror, I watch as the light from my window shines on it and everything in the room starts to sparkles. I stare at it a little longer taking in ever detail about it; the baby blue color, how it goes to mid-thigh, and how the jewels and sparkles are all over it. I open my closet door and take out my light blue high and mask. I sit down on my bed and admire my mask, it's completely metallic with silver beads and jewels outlining the upper part of the eye and the entire outline of the mask, with a sparkly light blue and silver flower made of of ribbons with a few light blue feathers surrounding it by the right eye. I get up then walk down the stairs.

I stop on the last stair to shove my heels on and I carefully stand up, not to sure how I'm supposed to walk in them. I somehow manage to walk into the bathroom again for my mom to finish my hair and makeup.

"Aww, you look gorgeous." My mom smiles, her eyes starting to glisten.

"Thanks, now can we finish this?" I point to my hair and face, starting to get nervous. After a while of my mom working on everything, she finally breaks the silent.

"So, are you gonna stay away from this Jordan kid?" I freeze in my seat and tense. How in the world did she know about him? She looks at me. "Don't you remember? It's a small town and rumors spread like wild fire. So yes, I did hear about you and him and what happened between him and Carmen at school." I start to tense up more, but a laugh starts to escape from my mouth. "You think what happened was funny?"

"Well, yeah." I smile. I turn my gaze to floor not able to take her intense glare. "He kind of deserved it,"

"He did deserve it for breaking my little girl's heart, but not so," She pauses slightly then continues. "Harsh." I smile again then look as she starts to put everything away.

"Are you done?" She nods her head. I look at my curled hair and the light layer of makeup she had done.

"So your date," she trails off.

"What about him?" I ask quietly. Now what could she have heard!?

"Nothing, other then he's a very sweet boy and that your dad really likes him." She laughs. I let out a deep breath, especially since my dad likes him which is saying something. As she goes to say something our dog starts to bark again.

"I'll go see who that is," She says, than walks out the door. I look in the mirror then hold my mask up to my face and look in the mirror again, glad that the mask goes with the dress. I try to tie it, but just end up dropping it. I sigh in frustration and walk out to the living room to have my mom tie it for me.

"Hey, Mom, could you." I start to say once I get into the living, but stop and drop the mask, startled once I find it's not her. "H-hey." I stutter as I pick the mask back up.

"Hey," Cody stops fiddling with his hair then looks at me. "You look beautiful," He says after he looks me up and down. I blush and look at him.

"And you look handsome," I look at his light grey suit and light blue tie then his metallic mask with delicate designs over it and smile. He starts to walk towards me and grabs my hand.

"Here everyone needs a corsage," He starts to say as he slides it onto my wrist.

"Thanks," I look at the light blue and white flowers tied with a silver ribbon. "Where did my mom go?" I finally say once I notice her missing.

"Oh, um, she's outside talking to my mom. They both wanted pictures, which we should probably go take." I nod my head and to start to walk to the door, as I started to pass over the threshold I feel my shoe catch on something and my entire body start to fall forwards. Before I can land face first Cody grabs my waist from behind and pulls me up into him.

"Thanks, I'm kind of a klutz." I laugh slightly.

"It's fine, here." I take his hand and we walk out slowly so I don't trip again. Once we finally get outside both of our mom's start to snap photos with and without our masks, after 10 minutes of pictures and Cody and I complaining about being late they finally let us go, both with smiles plastered on their faces. We drive up to the school, both extremely excited. Once we find a parking spot he gets out and goes around to my door and opens it.

"Thanks," I climb out and take his hand.

"Ready?" He looks over at me and squeezes my hand. I look over at the already buzzing gym and nod my head. We start to take off towards the gym, as we enter the beautifully decorated gym I look around at the masked figures. I see Bailey in a dark green dress and mask talking to Rosemarie, who is in a light purple dress and mask. I nod and smile as we pass them, I start to look around once I feel that someone is staring. I look behind and see a glaring Sam and Jordan, both in hot pick and black matching outfits. My eyes go wide and I whip my head back around to see Trevor talking to Cody. I politely smile and say hi then continue to look around as the entire thing starts to become overwhelming. After I scan about half of the gym I feel a tug on my arm, I look at whoever has my hand and see Cody standing there smiling.

"Care to dance?" He smirks.

"Of course," I yell over the loud blaring music. We find a spot in the middle of the dance floor as When You Look Me In The Eyes by the Jonas Brothers comes on. He grabs my right hand and grabs me around the waist as he pulls me closer. I smile as the butterflies in my stomach grows, I put my arm around his neck and my head on his shoulder as we start to sway to the music.

"I'm really glad you came with me," he whispers into my ear.

"I'm glad that you asked me, I've been waiting forever for you to." I silently say.

"Really? Cause I've been meaning to, but I was to nervous then you and Jordan started going out and I." He starts to babble, I laugh and go to stop him by gently kissing him on the lips. He looks at me surprised. "That's all I had to do for you to kiss me? To babble on and on?" I laugh and smile at him, glad to finally to be able to do that. As the song starts to change to a more faster paced song the music suddenly stops and everyone quits dancing and goes silent. We both look around, but see nothing.

"Come on," I grab Cody's hand and pull him through the large group of people towards the edge of the dance floor. Once I break through to a large clearing I stop dead in my tracks, my eyes going wide. Cody bumps into me as I stop quickly.

"What the," He stops right next to me, our fingers somehow still intertwined from walking through the big crowd. "Is that.."

"Carmen."
