Carmen
"One white chocolate fudgie for me," I tell the young girl standing behind the counter around a laugh. She nodds her head then turns to Kyle.
"Same," he says. She rings us up and Kyle pays. "Go get us a table," Ky mumbles softly to me, the backof his hand resting on my arm. I look down at it, then back into his eyes which looked like they never left my face.
"Mmm hmm," I hum. I turn and slide into one of the chairs at the table that Willow, Jordan, Kyle, and I sat at that one day. It was the day that Kyle and I had almost kissed before Sam inturrupted. That day seems so long ago, that Kyle not the same one standing at the counter now. The girl that took our orders has our fudgies in her hand, but she seems reluctant to give them to Ky. Instead she leans in closer to Kyle, whispering in his ear. She was so close to him that her breath moves the curls that hung on Kyle's forehead.
Kyle laughs at her then reaches for the fudgies in her hands. "Not yet," she teases, pulling them out of Ky's reach. She giggles, the kind of girly flirty giggle that I have heard Sam do a million times before. I watch the whole event with a frown and a glare upon my face. I hate being jealous but watching them I can't help but be it. I shouldn't be though. It isn't as if Ky and I are officially something. Nor does that kiss mean that we will ever be.
A small laugh to my right startles me. I look over to see Sam smirking at me, her crimped auburn hair framing her face, her chocolate brown eyes glowing. Her eyes flick over to Ky before resting on my own brown eyes again. "I see how mush of his attention you have," she states, twirling a lock of her hair around her finger.
"How is your nose?" I ask, somehow keeping myself composed. Her cheeks glow an angry red, and she stands up abruptly. Her chair screeches as it rubs against the tiled floor. I look over at Kyle and the girl, but the noise seemed to not have fazed them. Sam follows my gaze, then turns and actually gives me a sympathetic smile.
"You wanna come with?" she asks. She offers me the extra drink on her table. "I was kinda stood up for a bestie date..."
"You know what, I think I will." I stand up too and grab the drink. Sam and I walk outside of the Mini Mall, for once side by side. We drink and talk while rambling around, no real idea of where we are going.
"Wow, Carmen. You are... Something else." Sam says.
"Thanks, I guess." I reply. She dumps her empty cup in a trash can.
"I better head home," she announces. "But I see a beautiful friendship in the making." She winks at me before disappearing around a corner. A beautiful friendship, huh? Maybe so.
