Prompt: Luke has preconceived ideas about his father, but Yoda and with the help of R2D2 he learns the full story of Darth Vader's decent to madness.

"My father killed my mother that I know for certain!" Luke said to Yoda as he sat in his hut on Dagobah.

"Truly certain you are of the truth, hm?" Yoda asked using his cane to walk toward Luke.

"That's what I've figured out at least!" He said becoming unsure by Yoda's dodgy answer. "He probably didn't even love her at all!" He whispered.

R2 beeped from outside and rolled into the hut. "What is it, R2?" Luke asked the droid. A hologram appeared from his sensor and it showed a young woman hiding behind a pillar.

Luke watched in interest and not soon after a man ran toward the woman and engulfed the woman in his arms. He lifted her up and twirled her around.

"I thought I lost you? There were whispers that you'd been killed!" The woman said cupping his cheeks.

"I'm alright, my love! I'm home!" The man said kissing her. "It's like we've been apart for a lifetime. I've missed you (y/n)!" The man said.

Luke closed his eyes at that name. He knew that name! "Mom?" He whispered. He looked at the paused hologram and just studied his mother's face for the first time in his life.

He turned to R2, "what is this, R2?" He asks.

"Video footage of General Anakin Skywalker and Senator (y/n) (l/n)!"

Luke couldn't believe it, he wouldn't believe it. "It can't be!" He whispered.

"The truth it is!" Yoda confirmed.

"My father is incapable of loving anyone!" Luke stood his ground wanting to disagree.

R2 changed the video, "your so beautiful!" Anakin says completely and utterly lovestruck.

(y/n) turns around, "maybe because, I'm in love!"

Anakin shakes his head, "no it's because I'm so in love with you!" He said starry eyed.

Luke shook his head, "that doesn't mean anything, he may have loved my mother, but he sure as heck didn't care about me!" But before Luke could say more, R2 played another clip.

"I had another nightmare, it was about you!" Anakin said staring into his wife's eyes.

"What was it about?" Her sweet concerned voice asked.

"You die in childbirth!" He confessed.

"And the baby?" She asked.

"I don't know? But I won't let this one become real, not like the one of my mother. I can't lose you, or our child, it'd kill me!" Anakin said determined.
"This child is a blessing, and I won't let you or our child die, whatever it takes."

"Loved Senator (l/n), Skywalker did!" Yoda said sitting down in his chair. "Killed him losing your mother did!" Yoda continued. "Oblivious of his ever growing distance, the Jedi were!"

Yoda gets interrupted by Luke, "why did he turn to the dark side, if he cared so much about us, why'd he turn?" Luke asked.

"Messed with his head, the Emperor did." Yoda answered. "Fed him lies and nightmares, scared him into submission to the dark side, he did." Yoda continued.

"If he loved her as you and R2 said he did then why did he kill her?" Luke asked wanting to know the truth.

"The head can be manipulated, but the heart is not so easily tricked!" Yoda began to say. "Attachments were forbidden for the Jedi for a reason, powerful thing love is. Stronger than the Force ever could be. The Dark side take it away it cannot. Love turned Skywalker into Darth Vader, but the love Skywalker held for your mother remained. The dark side can cause, but is unable to corrupt something pure as love! Kill her your father did not!"

"Then what did happen?" Luke asked the Jedi.

"Death by a broken heart, it was!"Yoda confessed. "Pure thing, love is; a heart broken easily it can."

"Your going down a path I don't want and can't follow! (y/n) cried, "Anakin, your breaking my heart!" She said as tears streamed down her face.

Luke watched as R2 played footage and he saw his mother heavily pregnant as she confronted his father.

"I love you! Why wasn't that good enough?" She asked.

"Love can't save you, (y/n) only my new powers can do that!" The voice of Vader seeped through his words like butter which made Luke let out an involuntary shiver.

"I don't know you any more! Power is all that matters to you now, do I even matter at all?" She asked.

He grabbed her wrist and kissed her lips lovingly, "don't ever question my love for you, I did this for you, to protect you!"

"I never asked you to do that!" She shouted.

"R2 that's enough!" Luke said making the droid stop the recording. Luke could see now that his father had been manipulated and thought to believe something that wasn't true. He had loved his mother until the end and if what Yoda said is to be believed, Darth Vader loves (y/n) Skywalker still.

I guess now he knew the full story!
