Prompt: Anakin doesn't turn to the dark side and raises his daughter with the help of Padme. When he sees Padme disciplining his daughter he gets pissed.

"You are not her mother!" Anakin snapped at her, reminding her of her position in his life and his daughter's life.

"NO! What you mean is, I'm not her!" Padme snapped back, but immediately she regretted it. She knew Anakin's wife was a dangerous and sensitive subject for him.

His face grew angry, "I suggest you leave, Padme!" Anakin said turning away from her and turning to face his daughter; a daughter that reminded him so much of her mother.

Padme understood and grabbed her things and left. (y/n) was it for him, he would never love another woman as deeply as he had her. The only thing that could come close would be the parental love he had for his daughter, Leia. She had came up with the name before she had died in childbirth. His nightmare had come true after all, but his wife made him promise to look after Leia even after she was gone. For the last 4 years he had done just that, with the help of Padme, Obi Wan, and even Ashoka. But it wasn't the same, they all were not her, the one him and his daughter needed the most.

He felt like a failure as a father, he couldn't provide his daughter with the touch of a woman his wife could have. Anakin called for Leia and the almost 4 year old came running to greet her father. He scooped her up in his arms and hugged her to his chest. He looked down at his daughter and a single tear fell down his face.

Leia reached up and wiped at her father's face, "don't cry, daddy!" Leia said moving her fingers to make his mouth into a smile, "there, now your smiling!" She said and Anakin couldn't help but actually smile for the first time in a long time.

The thing Leia did was something her mother would have done to get him to smile. She had always had this childishness that puberty could never erase.

He held Leia closer to him in a hug, "never lose your inner child, my little Leia!" Anakin whispered to his beloved daughter.

Leia yawned and curled up in her dad's arms and fell asleep. Anakin went inside the cabin and walked to Leia's bedroom. He laid her down and pulled the blanket over her sleeping form.

Leia however woke up and Anakin sighed, feeling bad for waking her. "Go back to bed, baby!" Anakin whispered kissing her forehead.

Leia shook her head, "I'm not tired yet, can you tell me about mommy again?" Leia asked and Anakin held back his tears and nodded.

"Your mother was the greatest woman I ever knew-"

"Except me, right daddy?" Leia interrupted and Anakin nodded.

"That's right, baby." He said smiling. "When I met her I thought she was the most beautiful woman to ever exist, so much so I thought she was an Angel. She had a voice as sweet as honey, and her hair was as soft as silk. She was smart, smarter than me by a long shot, and she had a heart as big as the galaxy." Anakin told his daughter.

"Marrying her was the greatest decision of my life, and having you was the greatest decision of hers. She could have had anyone in the galaxy, but somehow she chose me, and I'm glad she did, because she gave me you." Anakin finished and Leia's eyes were drawing closed. He leaned down and kissed her forehead. "Have a good sleep, baby!" Anakin whispered.

Anakin left the room closing the door softly. He walked to his bedroom and sat down on the edge of his bed. He looked over at the night table and saw the holographic image on it.

He smiled sadly when he remembered that day, his wedding day! Padme was right she wasn't her. Nobody could be her, because nobody could ever compare to the way she made him feel. The way she still made him feel, even after all this time.
