Chapter 4: The Hospital
I ran through the entrance and towards the front desk.
"Hello how can I help you?" the nurse at the desk asked sweetly.
"My brother Max, was in a motorcycle accident. Where is he? Is he ok?" i demanded through my utears.
"Oh Maxwell Brooks?" she asked, I nodded. "He was rushed into surgery when he got here. We will make sure to inform you when we have any new information."
"I sure do hepo he's ok." Another nurse said to Teddy and I with a sad smile.
"Yeah, me too." I said quietly. I grabbed Teddy's hand and walked to the waiting room and sat down in one of the squeeky clean chairs. We were sitting there for about 5 minutes when Teddy's phone started to ring. He looked at it, contemplating whether he shoudl pick it up or not. I knew it was Allie.
"Go it's your first girlfriend, you can't blow her off." I said patting his back as he got up. "Oh and Teddy?" I said as he started walking away. He turned around to look at me. "Don't tell her ok?" nodded then kept walking and answered his phone. I wiped away the tears streaking down my face.
"Lennie Brooks?" A nurse said looking down at a clipboard then searching the waiting room. I shakily stood up and walked towards her. She told me to follow her. I Looked back at Teddy and he was still talking on the phone. The nurse led me to a small room and told me to sit. There was a long table and several empty seats.
"Your brothers' doctors will be coming in to speak with you shortly." She said then walked out the door. I sat at the table tapping my fingers on my leg nervously. A group of people withe scrubs on walked into the room and shut the door.
"Hello, you must be Lennie, Maxwell's brother?" a tall man with a blonde beard with a hint of gray said. I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded almost robotically. They shook my hands then sat at the empty seats.
"Is he dead?" I blurted out before I could stop myself. i looked down at the table and a puddle of tears formed on it.
"Hey sweetie he's not dead." A middle aged woman with black hair told me. She reached across the table and grabbed my hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. I looked up at all of them.
"Im Dr Leon." said a short man.
"Dr Boyce." said the tall man from before.
"dr Robbins." said a woman with short blonde hair.
DR Chelley." said an older woman with wrinkles around her eyes.
"Well, your brother is doing pretty well. He has a head injury, a few broken bones, and some internal bleedings. The main thing we are worried about though is his memory. He was hit fairly hard on the head when he took the hit and we aren't sure if his memory is in full tact, and the only way to figure out is if you ask him some questions." my body rocked with sobs as i couldn't control my crying.
