Chapter 21: Graduation

I sat in the uncomfortable folding chair in my school’s gymnasium. But I didn’t pay attention to how uncomfortable the folding chair was or how bad Jimmy, the kid next to me, smelled. I didn’t think about how cold it was in the gymnasium I only paid attention to my principal as she called out the names. She called up Jimmy. I’m next I thought in my head. Don’t trip Len I swear to god I will hurt you if you trip on your way up those stairs I warned myself in my head.

“Lennie Brooks.” My principal said into the microphone. I stood up praying to god I wouldn’t trip and walked to the small platform where all the teachers were sitting. The crowd was cheering, I could hear Max and Teddy screaming over the rest of clapping and ‘woohoos’ I looked through the crowd searching for my idiotic brothers. They were in the back standing with my mother, Caleb’s family was next to them. Allie was standing next to Teddy who had temporarily taken his arm off her shoulder to clap for me and wave his hands around in the air. I shook my principals hand and got my diploma from Mr. Anderson. I walked over to where the set of stairs down was. Mrs. Sanchez was standing there with the candy necklace. She moved it over my graduation cap and moved it until it was around my neck. I walked back to my seat and gave Jimmy a high five as I sat down. They kept calling out names and we all clapped.

“Mark Price.” Lexie and I screamed as he slowly walked up to the platform

“Lexie Holt.” I screamed and clapped as Lexie walked up the stairs to get her diploma. She squealed a little when they handed her the diploma. She quickly walked back to her seat. I turned around and made eye contact at her. We grinned at eachother and I winked at her. I didn’t cheer loud again until they called up my boyfriend.

“Caleb Winchester.” Lexie and I screamed again. I could even hear Caleb’s little brother cheering for him. Caleb was one of the last kids. There were 7 more kids after him. Then the Class President, Denise Price, went up to make the final speech.

“Hello parents, staff, and of course students. I can’t believer we’re graduating. I still remember when we all met in 6th grade. And there have been additions and we have also lost a few. We have some of the best memories here in this school. Like when Eric Trewman put the fart bomb in Mr. Wallace’s class, or when Linda Bastow dressed up as a unicorn just so she could tell Mrs. Sanchez that unicorns did in fact exist.” Everyone laughed at the crazy stories. “And when we organized that flash mob for all the lower classmen. But one of the best memories is senior prank day. We all went to Alex Kriss’s house. Every single senior went to his house so we could organize the best prank in the world. And it turned out really well. When we were actually coming here for school we hated it but now that we’re leaving we realize how much fun and how amazing the teachers and this school are. . Anyway im so glad I could meet all of you. These memories will be kept in our hearts forever. I love you guys so much. Now if you would all move your tassels. Parents and staff I present to you Class of 2012!!” We all cheered and moved our tassels to the opposite side. Denise pulled her cap off her head which was our signal. Everyone pulled the cap off their head and threw it in the air. Everyone started jumping around and dancing, excited to graduate. I ran to Lexie and Mark and jumped in their arms. We held onto eachother tight.

“I love you guys so much!” I said.

“We love you too Len.” They said in unison. I let go and turned around searching the crowd for Caleb. I turned around about to ask Mark and Lexie if they had seen him but they were making out so I decided to find him by myself. I walked towards the back since that’s where his seat was. Suddenly strong arms were wrapped around my waist. He kissed the side of my neck and up to my cheek. I turned around in his arms and stared into his beautiful eyes. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled his lips to mine.

“I love you.” I whispered as we pulled apart.

“I love you too Len.” He said then pulled my lips to his again. After talking ot a few friends and hugging and saying goodbye Caleb and I made our way over to our families who were chatting together. Teddy had his back turned towards me so I ran up to him and hopped on his back. He grabbed onto my legs before I slipped off.

“Congratulations love.” Caleb’s mom said in her strong british accent.

“Thank you!” I smiled. Caleb’s little brother hugged me awkwardly since i was still on Teddy’s back so Teddy was sandwiched into our hug but our families had gotten really close since Caleb and I had started dating. I jumped off Teddy’s back and hugged Max.

“Finally I will get to leave for college and not be stuck taking care of you dweebs.” I said sounding exasperated.

Max smirked at me then glanced at Teddy who was standing behind me.

“Lennie sandwich!” they yelled. Max crushed me and Teddy came up behind me. They squished together until I could barely breathe.

“You know you love us Len.” They said as they finally let go.

“Ignore them Len. They’re nutter butters.” Tayah said from behind me. I turned around swiftly and pulled her into a hug.

“Hey I didn’t see you before!” I said. She laughed and walked over to Max after we let go. Caleb came up from behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. He rested his chin in the crook of my neck. I sighed in content and leaned back against him. We all chatted for a few more minutes then got in our cars. Lexie, Mark, Caleb and their families were coming to our house to hang out. When everyone got to our house we played music, Max grilled burgers and hot dogs, and we talked. At around 11 o clock PM all the parents and siblings decided to leave. Mark, Lexie, Caleb and I just danced around. Tongue Tied by Grouplove started playing and all of us jumped around singing along. Lexie and I looked at eachother then at the pool then back at eachother. We ran towards eachother and grabbed eachothers hands and jumped into the pool, in our dresses. We screamed when we broke through the surface due to the freezing cold. Mark and Caleb stared at us as we tried to keep our heads above water in the deep cold pool. Mark and Caleb jumped in doing cannon balls. The water splashed on mine and Lexie’s face and we screamed as the cold water hit our faces. We all sat in the pool talking and swimming. We all got out of the pool and grabbed hands then jumped in the pool together.

“Hey Lexie? Remember that waterfall I took you to a few years ago?” I asked once we were all out of the water. She nodded and grinned at me mischievously. I grabbed Caleb’s hand as she grabbed Marks and we ran to my car. Mark and Lexie got in the back and I sat in the front with Caleb. I drove us to a small creek that was about 10 miles from my house. We got out of the car and Lexie and I led Caleb and Mark to the waterfall. I could hear it so I followed the sound to find it easier, the flashlight I brought wasn’t that bright. When we reached the top of the waterfall I blew out a big breath of relief. I gripped Caleb and Mark’s hands. Mark was on my right and Caleb was on my left. Lexie was on the other side of Mark gripping his hand. We all jumped as we fell to the unknown water below us. We didn’t know what was coming but we didn’t care the rush and thrill of everything was the best part of it all. I was just glad to be with the people I love.

Hai! Sorry for not updating in sooo long!! But this is the conclusion of The StoryBook but there is a sequal!!!!! And i will be posting that tonight or tomorrow.
