Chapter 18

Max’s POV

“Maxwell Brooks?” the doctor said coming into the waiting room. I stood up as he walked towards me.

“Everything went well, they should be fine, you can take them home tomorrow.” Dr. Rush said. I thanked him then sat back down next to Tayah. She grabbed my hand and lightly kissed my knuckles calming me down. I kissed her temple and let my eyelids drift closed.

“Max.” a soft voice said. I opened my eyes and Tayah was standing next to me. I sat up in the sterile hospital chairs and rubbed my eyes.

“Come on babe. Let’s go home, we will come back for them tomorrow. And we should check on Teddy, I called him already and told him what happened.”

“Ok thank you.” I said then stood up and walked out the door with her. We drove home talking about anything and everything, Tayah was really good at getting my mind off the fact that my mom and sister are in the hospital. When we got home we just watched movies with Teddy. We all fell asleep in the living room while watching Doctor Who. I woke up early the next morning and got dressed in a dark blue t shirt and a pair of faded jeans. I left a note to Tayah and Teddy telling them I was going to pick up Lennie and mom. I pulled into the hospital parking lot and walked into the building.

“Ah Max. Right this way.” Dr Rush said when I walked in the doors. I followed him through the busy hallways until we reached a small room. He opened the door to reveal Lennie and my mom. They were talking to eachother in hoarse voices. Lennie looked at me and grinned like a spastic.

“Max!” she tried yelling, I chuckled and pulled her into a tight hug.

“I’m so glad you’re ok.” I said to both of them.

“Thank you for saving us.” Lennie said quietly and looked down ashamed.

“Hey what you did was brave, stupid but brave.” I said she looked up at me and hugged me again.

*Two Weeks Later*

Lennie’s POV

“Yes! I will help!” I told Allie. We were all at Tayah’s bachelorette party she had a few close friends but only about 3 because Tayah and Max wanted to have a small intimate wedding.
