Chapter 6
It’s been 4 years sinceBrandondied. Since then I have become very protective of my brothers.
“Len?” I opened my eyes when my name was called.
“yah Ted?”
“Let’s go home, we’ll come back tomorrow.” He held his hand out for me to take. I grabbed it and we walked out of the depressing hospital. We got in the car and started down the road. I sang along to the song on the radio.
“Len?” I glanced over at Teddy. “How can you do that?” Teddy asked.
“Do what?”
“How can you act like nothing happened. We just left the hospital because our brother was in an accident and now you are acting like none of that happened. How do you do that?” I pulled the car over and turned in my seat to look at him.
“Look Teddy, whenBrandondied he told me to stay strong for you, for our family, and I promised him I would. So I try not to let you see me weak. And I get today I was crying in front of you but I didn’t like crying in front of you. I always try to be strong for you and Max andBrandonand mom.” I explained. He nodded. I grabbed his hand and squeezed it reassuringly then started driving again. When I parked the car in the driveway we got out and walked in the front door.
I walked into Teddy’s room with him. I tucked him in and kissed his cheek and gave him a hug.
“Im not a baby, you don’t have to tuck me in.” he said.
“But then it makes you seem like you are still a cute little boy.” I said then walked out and shut off the light and closed the door on my way out. “Goodnight Ted love you.”
“Good night Len, love you too.”
I walked into my room. I put on a pair of pajama shorts and a black tank top. My phone went off, I grabbed it out of my bag.
Who would be talking to me at this time jeez!?
I checked my phone and had a text from Jayden.
Ohhh it’s from Jayden. Nevermind I’m glad he’s talking to me.
The text said: *Hey how you holding up?*
I quickly typed a reply *So-so.*
I waited for a reply. My phone went off in seconds.
*Did you get to see him?*
*Yeh. He’s ok.*
*That’s good. Why don’t you get some rest?*
*Ok Goodnight Jayden. J*
*Goodnight Lennie*
I lay down on my bed and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
When I woke up that morning I called my mom and explained everything that happened.
“Hey mom.”
“Hello Len.”
“Max got in an accident.”
“What kind of accident?”
“He was on his motorcycle and I don’t know if he lost control or if he was hit, I have no idea.” She gasped.
“When?”
“Yesterday.”
“Where is he?”
“He’s in the hospital, I saw him yesterday and he’s completely fine. He will just need a few weeks of rest.”
“What was the damage?”
“Well he had a few broken bones and brain problems. But nothing they couldn’t fix.” I said. She sighed in relief. We talked for a few more minutes then we hung up and Teddy and I went to go see Max again.
