Getting lost within the crowd Kyle found himself standing alone. His eyes slowly wandered the ground before him, he admired the bright colors and cheerful smiles of the newly weds, but parties weren't his thing.
Awkwardly- as he was- he accept the invitation on late notice as the man of honor. Truthfully so, he wasn't close with the couple, but nothing was better than free gifts and food.
He let out a dreaded sigh, looking between his watch and the dance floor. Frankly he was bored, and more than ready to leave, but out of consideration he stayed.
His attention shifted between couples or those who partied alone. Irritably he tugged at his tie, despite the size of the venue he felt suffocated in the corner he stood in.
"Kyle! My man! Thank for coming." His newly wedded acquaintance pranced over toward Kyle, he was slightly drunk and his clothes slightly soaked in sweat and possibly even alcohol. "Of course buddy, wouldn't miss it for the world." He lied through his teeth as he gave his friend a quick hand shake.
The groom slugged himself over Kyle, his arm wrapped over his shoulder as he stood beside him. "There are some pretty fine women here man, you should get yourself a date." He whispered in Kyles ear.
"Call all these women fine while you literally just got married eh?"
His friend snickered at him, he shifted his weight so that he no longer was leaned against Kyle. "I'm just sayin man, you've been single since freshman year of college." He laughed a bit teasing Kyle.
Kyle sighed once more, he was ready to head home. "Tell you what...if you don't get laid by the end of the night? Then I'll hook you up with some of my wife's friends."
He shrugged and walked off leaving Kyle to wonder the thought.
After being discharged from the military, Kyle found use in trying to gain back the fraction of life left in his body. However, he wasn't going to just settle with the first person who'd sleep with him. He wanted a long life partner.
That's when his eyes landed on you.
The world around him seemed to slow, like destiny working it's magic. His eyes wandered up and down your body as he admired the fitted dress that matched perfectly against your fair skin.
"S-she's..wow."
He muttered to himself. For a moment he caught himself staring and looked away, but his eyes bought him back.
Kyle couldn't help himself, though there were many attractive women, you caught his eye immediately. For a moment you saw him too, standing alone. You figured he was waiting for his partner or was just another random in-law to the bride. But as the night carried on you saw him, just out the corner of your eye, watching you as you did him.
By fate, neither of you wanted to approach first, in any case there was a mystery partner, but your own hearts failed you. The thought of him eventually left your mind as you went back to talking with the other brides maids.
Kyle, however couldn't scratch the thought of you from his mind. He watched as your friends left to attend their own thing leaving you alone.
"It's now or never Kyle."
He motivated himself, putting down his drink he began his way toward you. He seemed to have gained your attention as you paused to watch him approach.
Finally he stood before you. Awkwardly he stood there for a moment not sure how to proceed, but hoped that a simple introduction would suffice.
"Hi, I'm Kyle, I-I couldn't help but notice you, hopefully this isn't too weird."
He quickly admitted, his hand rubbed the bare of his neck as he anticipated your response.
