You find out the Valeria had Been El Sin Nombre this entire time.

~~

You woke to the sudden slam of the door to your home. It was most likely Valeria, the space beside you had her absence.

You had promised Valeria that you wouldn't question why she'd leave so often in the morning or what she spent her long nights doing away from the comfort of your arms.

Valeria had always been such a secretive person, she wasn't the type to easily trust nor talk to. It took you years to even sit in the proximity of her.

When you were in the military you served together along with Alejandro whom you hadn't contracted in years.

But he was the least of your concerns.

Since a week ago, Valeria had been leaving earlier and retiring later into the night. So often that when you stayed up to greet her, the only response she'd give you was a kiss on the cheek before locking herself in the office of your shared home.

For a while you had been convinced that she had been getting tired of you, and that for a moment you were getting in the way of her work.

But it wasn't like you knew what she was doing half the time to avoid getting in the way.

There was no communication between you and often times meals were skipped and sleep was scarce.

Rolling out of your shared bed you walked to the wash room to get ready for the day. There wasn't much you did besides tend to your garden or clean things that had been cleaned already.

Valeria was such a demanding woman, in such a way that she forbid you from leaving the vicinity of your yard, or even going to the market by yourself.

For a while you thought of it as a way to protect you as Las Alma's was a dangerous and risky environment for you to travel alone, but you were ex military. Not that it was a brag, but you were strong enough to fend for yourself.

But you denied ever accusing Valeria of ever putting you on house lock or trying to "protect" you from dangers. Instead you looked at it as a gesture of her love and care for you.

After all she confessed first.

The evening would roll around again as you finished reading the same booth for the nth time that week, or watching the same news channel as Las Alma's wasn't in the proximity of any large cities for good tv channels.

You made dinner for yourself once more before cleaning up for the night.

Tucking into your silk sheets you desperately begged Valeria for, you cuddled up to yourself for warmth as she wouldn't be home for another few hours.

You had given up on the idea of waiting for her, there was no point.

But as night fell darker, it became harder to sleep, the cold side of your bed remained empty as you stared at the sheets reflecting the moon light from your window.

And exasperated sigh left your mouth as you removed the sheet and trailed over to the window.

The view of the house was just high enough to watch the streets of Las Alma's as civilians locked and shut off the lights to their homes. While Children were scolded for running around late at night.

"Are you not tired amor?"

Valeria's calming voice emitted from behind you as she entered the shared room. You hadn't a clue that she had returned home as her step remained light and her presence wasn't felt.

"I'm not." You responded coldly feeling this certain anger.

"Come I will help you sleep."

You shook your head, continuing to look out at the night of the city.

"What has troubled you?" She asked, her hands slid beneath your sleeping shirt as she gently massaged your waist.

"Nothing I need some air." Pushing her arms down you walked out the room toward your garden.

Sat in the center was a small swing that the two of your built before Valeria became too busy to tend to her own home.

Taking your spot on the swing you rested your head against the chain feeling it's cold metallic roughness against your silk skin.

"Talk to me amor, what's wrong?" She followed you, typical of her when she became desperate for something.

"You want to know what's troubled me?" You watched her as she searched your eyes for answers.

"I wake up everyday without you, I wander my home without you, I live in a prison because of you, I sleep and eat and shower and breathe, I do everything without you!"

At the point you were panting from anger. You almost surprised yourself hearing yourself yell at her. She too was surprised seeing you lash out at her.

"Everyday I question if I was ever good enough for you, or if I did a bad job at being your wife, or if that maybe if I was dead you'd be happier."

"Don't say that amor."

"No, because you wouldn't care Valeria. Or should I say Sin Nombre?"

Valeria made an audible gasp, her blood ran cold as she could only look at you in fear and betrayal.

"Ho-how did you find out amor?"

She didn't falter from her spot in front of you. Nor did she bother denying the fact rather she seemed almost content with the idea that you had found out.

"I saw through your lies, you promised you'd get rid of him, but you can't get rid of someone you work for, or rather someone you are, I chose to accept that fact, but I can't do this anymore Valeria."

Valeria gulped down her pride for that moment as she tried to reach toward you.

"Don't touch me, please." You begged trying to compose yourself from the confrontation. "I've accepted this fact since the moment you asked me to marry you, I've lived with the fear of dying everyday, but I'm done."

Standing up from your swing you walked up towards Valeria.

"We're done." Removing your wedding ring you gently placed it in her hand before walking off towards your room to pack your belongings.

"Y-you can't leave, please amor, I was wrong."

But you ignored her pleads and continued packing your clothes.

"You have nothing outside of here, all you have is me! So don't leave, I can't do this alone amor, please I need you to stay here."

"That's enough Valeria, I'm done waiting and begging, bye."

You pressed one last kiss against her tear drenched lips as you walked out the once shared home.

Leaving behind the taunting memories of the love you fought too hard for.

But it was now or never.
