Undercover Love

Chapter 19

Agent White waited beside me as the phone rang, I held my breath, crossing my fingers that he would pick up. 

"Hello!?" The familiar old gruff voice picked up and I smiled.

"Hey Jim, its me"

"Huh!? Wait...Rain?"  His voice softened as he recognized me. I glanced at Agent White, who was sitting there gaping at the fact Jim has just revealed my real name. 

"Yes its me, how are you?"

"I'm good kid, but I told you to never call me unless it was an emergency"

"I think this could count as one" I said, going on to explain the situation we where in.

"So you got yourself in a bit of a pickle huh?"

"Yeah, I guess you could say that"

"Where is Agent White, I want you to call over to you"

"I'm right here sir"

"Sir? Well, I think we are off to a great start here, what your name son?"

Agent White glanced at me for a second before answering "My name is Max"

"Max huh? Ok, well, Max and Rain, I want you both to meet me at that diner across from that popular dress shop, uh, whats it called?"

"I know where your talking about what day and when?"

"Lets do tomorrow at 3, sound good?"

"Ok lets do it"

I hung up the phone and sighed in relief, maybe this whole thing could finally be resolved.

"So your name is Rain huh?"

"Yep"

"...I was way off"

"Yes, yes you where...Max"

Agent White chuckled "You know, I'm still probably going to call you Agent Black"

"Same, calling you Max just sounds weird"

The next day Agent White and I pulled up a little early to the diner. Not spotting Jim there yet, Agent White took my hand and preposed we walked around a bit. After agreeing, we where on our way back when I saw someone familiar through the diner window.

"Agent White, we have to leave now I..."

"No no, please do stay" 

A voice came from behind us and Agent White and I had no time to react or even turned around before I felt something over my mouth and everything went black.

I groggily opened my eyes and looked around, not recognizing the space, or people, around me. As my senses slowly came back, I jerked up and forward when I saw Agent White sitting a feet feet away from me, head down and body limp, only held on the chai by the chains binding him.

"Oh, your awake! Great!" 

I heard the voice come from outside the circle of light Agent White and I had around us. I instantly recognized it though "Well hello cousin, we meet again so soon?"

"Don't act so surprised Rain, don't think I wasn't a fool not to put a listening device on your phone"

"What!?"

"Thats right, I heard everything, too bad Jimmy won't get to see your pretty face again"

At this time, Agent White lifted his head up, his senses coming to him way more quickly then mine did. 

"Oh, Agent White I presume? Or Max as you said your name was"

"And I presume you are Agent Black's loving cousin?"

"Are you actually going to finish the job of killing me this time?" I growled, interrupting Agent White before he said something that ticked off my cousin more than he already looked to be. Coming forward into the light, he bent down, "I thought about it, but I decided to give you one final chance to plant that viruses, if you do I'll let you and your boyfriend go free, I might even consider giving you a well paying job high up in the Cobra's, you never know"

"I'm not her boyfriend!"

"Your not!? But she said you where the, and I quote 'the love of her life'"

"W'what?"

"I did not say..."

"You where starting to. Anyway, its a simple yes or no answer"

"I will never..."

"Before you answer, I've decided to give you a night or two to think about it, my men with have a very close eye on you, so don't even think of trying any funny business!"

And with that, he left the room, and us with 5 very mean looking guys and didn't look anywhere near close to falling asleep like the guy last time.

"Your in love with me!?"

"Seriously Agent White? We are literally days away from death and thats the only thing you care about?"

"Maybe, did you mean it? Or did you just say that because you where trying to direct the attention somewhere else?"

"We have bigger problems at hand, I..."

"Did you mean it!?"

"It doesn't matter..."

"Yes it does! Did you mean it?"

"I..."

"Yes or no!?"

"YES! Yes, I did"

I took a deep breath and lowered my head, feeling my heart pounding hard in my chest. "And right now, your the only one I trust"

Agent White swallow hard, seemingly trying to process all the information I had just dumped on him in the last 30 seconds. I saw his jaw tighten then relax as he opened his mouth then quickly closed his mouth and looked away.

"This is why I didn't want you to find out. Because it messes with our friendship"

"What!? No its just...a lot to process and I...don't know how to react"

"Well at least say something!"

"I love you too? Hows that?"

"I...suppose that works..."
