I looked up as Agent White opened my door and leaned on the frame. I rolled my eyes "You know, there's this new thing called 'knocking' You should try it sometime" Agent White smiled "Maybe I will, but for now, you need to hurry, 'cause we need to leave soon" My head popped up "We?" Agent White grinned and nodded again "Yep, I've gotten permission to occupy you to the base" I rolled my eyes again, resuming my packing "Oh joy" "Oh come on, you don't dislike me that much do you?" I looked up again "I never said I disliked you I..." Agent White leaned forward, a smile twitching on the edge of his mouth "So you like me?"  I sighed, getting up and taking up one of my bags with me. Passing him and paused, looking at him from the side of my eyes "I just find you incredibly annoying" Agent White grabbed my other bag and followed me out to where the car was waiting for us. "That's the same thing as not liking someone" He huffed as we both got into the back seat. I chuckled "Not in my dictionary"

"Oh yeah, and what exactly does it mean in your dictionary?" He said, raising his eyebrow and turning toward me. I paused for a second, then smiled and said "I suppose it means I find you annoying..." Agent White immediately rolled his eyes and turned toward the window. "...But you have a good heart" He turned back and frown "A good heart? Really?" "Yes, which makes me wonder why your in this business?" Agent White shrugged and turned back toward the window, not answering me. Honestly this guy! He would prick and prod about me, but the second I asked about him, he shut me down! I grabbed his arm, startling him as he snapped his head back toward me "What!?" "A shrug is not an answer" He looked annoyed and then smiled softly. For some reason, that smile make my heart flutter, and I pulled back my hand and sat back...a little too hard. Agent White noticed this and smiled again "If you want to know so bad, it was my father" I looked at him "You were forced into this?" He looked startled for a second before he shook his head, then shrugged

"No, well...I made myself do this, not because I wanted to, but just because I felt I had to. If that makes any sense"

"No, honestly, it doesn't. Why would you force yourself to do something you don't want to do?"

"Because it's my family legacy, for about 10 generations, our family has been in and helping the mafia"

"Wow! So your dad's an agent?"

"Well, he went missing about 5 years ago, everyone assumes he's dead, and there is little hope he'll ever come back, so I joined shortly after, I felt it was my duty to carry on the legacy"

"Oh, I'm sorry. How old did you say you were?"

"I never said, and I'm not saying until you tell me your age"

"Ugh, fine, but you first"

"Promise to tell me after?"

"Whatever"

"Fine, I'm 23, and you?"

"22, you joined the mafia at age 18?"

"Yeah, pretty normal age to join, to be honest, what about you?"

"What about me?"

"How did you join? Were you forced in?"

"Sort of"

"By who?"

"My cousin, he's my...well he's not my boss anymore"

"What does your Cousin do?"

I hesitated for a moment, I didn't want to lie, as 1, I was a terrible liar, and 2 I'm usually always honest. Searching for a moment for the right choice of word, I said "Well, it's usually very secretive" Which was the truth, I barely knew about what he did in missions or in the time he wasn't at work. Agent White nodded, not asking anymore.

The rest of the ride was quiet, each of us busy with our thoughts until the driver announced that we had reached our destination. I looked around, gaping at everything I saw, I was standing in front of a giant black, luxurious building, that looked to be straight out of a billionaire's magazine. Agent White nudged me, and when I turned to him, the same soft smile was on his face, making my stomach fill with butterflies as he said "Well, are you going to keep gawking at it, or do you want to see the inside" "O'oh, um...well, yeah, we can go inside"  He chuckled and took my hand, leading me inside. Inside I didn't know what to do, and I don't mean where to go, Agent White was waiting for something or someone to come. But I didn't know if I should withdraw my hand or leave it in his grasp, he had grabbed it on a whim and pulled me along. But now we were just standing...holding hands. Starting to feel very awkward, I was saved when a man in a black suit came to us, wanting to know who we were and why we were there. Luckily, Agent White knew exactly what to do, dropping my hand, he pulled out a card and showed it to the man, it seemed to please him as he started ushering us to the elevator. Quickly putting my hands in the pockets of my suit so Agent White couldn't grab them, I followed them slowly and was relieved when the elevator started going up. When we reached the top and we got out, I was suddenly frozen, there were so many rooms! Looking around, I was suddenly very glad Agent White had been sent along with me, as he didn't hesitate for a second and led me to the biggest room at the end of the hall. "You've done this a lot of times before?" I asked him as he pulled out a key to unlock the door "Huh? Oh! No, only a few times, but you'd be surprised at how fast you can find your way around here" "I doubt it, how many floors does this building have?" Agent White chuckled "About 50, but only the top 5 are used for business" "Oh that's reassuring" I grumbled. All the other floors probably had the same amount of rooms, if not more. How on earth was I supposed to find my way around?

"Here is where you're going to be staying," Agent White said, opening the door to a modest-sized room graced with a good-sized bed, a walk-in closet by the door, a dresser on the wall opposite to the bed, and a nightstand by the bed. I walked in and plunged my stuff down, collapsing on the bed. Agent White smiled at me and sat down by my feet "Are you that tired?" I huffed "I'm exhausted! I've moving to 2 different places in the course of a week" Agent White shrugged "Makes sense, and I am sorry to say, you aren't done for the day" I groaned, my limbs already feeling like they were going to fall off. "But it's already 9:30 PM!" I whined, causing Agent White to laugh "Please, that's still relatively early at night" I snorted, but got up and followed Agent Whiteout to another room where he knocked and then stood by me as we waited. A few minutes later, the door opened and we shuffled inside into a smaller office room that was again, dark enough that you couldn't see the face of the man behind it. "Ah! Agent Black, and Agent White. The boss told me you were coming!" Or woman. A woman's voice echoed slightly around the bare room. Agent White spoke up once again and said "Yes, I already showed Agent Black to her room, is there anything else you need me to do or am I dismissed?" The woman placed her elbows on the desk and nodded "Actually, I believe I forgot to tell you. Agent White, the boss wants you to work with Agent Black" Agent White gasped "Partners? Why?" "He said he noticed you two work together well. Your stuff has already been put into the same room as Agent's black, the room next to it will be yours for now." Agent White started to speak up again "What..." but the lady cut him off "That will be all Agent White. You are now partners with Agent Black, no more questions. You are dismissed" Agent White stood for a second before marching straight out, me close at his heels. A few doors down he stopped and was looking down, breathing hard. I walked up to him and put my hand on his shoulder, he jerked away but looked up at me. "What's wrong? I thought you wanted to stay with me?" He sighed "I did, but not as...partners"

"What's wrong with partners?"

"A partner is more than it seems Agent Black"

"What do you mean?"

Agent White just shook his head, leading me back to the room that now had both of our stuff. Picking up his bags, he turned back to me "I'll tell you in the morning, Goodnight Agent Black"
