We pulled up to the building hours later, despite Jim driving with his foot almost going through the bottom of the car.

"Agent White, the bomb has to be at least a few minutes from exploding"

"Then we need to get in there"

"What!?"

"How else are we supposed to disarm a bomb?"

"Good point"

Jim got out and nodded to us, before pulling out a weird-looking machine and handing it to me saying "Good luck kids"

I grabbed it and proceeded to rush inside the building with Agent White. Was it a stupid decision? Yes! Absolutely! Was there any other way of disarming the bomb? No...no there wasn't.

Just as we got into the building I saw it completely deserted with the bomb strapped in plain sight and the word 'goodbye' taped to it and 5 seconds left on the timer. I had just enough time to think 'Oh no' and feel Agent White push me down before I heard the last beep and everything black-out.

When I woke up, I was encased in stone rubble, a large piece pressing heavily on my chest, making it incredibly difficult to breathe. Straining my ears and looking around to the best of my trapped ability. I noticed a small hole and after waiting a few minutes for my ears to stop ringing, I heard distant sirens, and people yelling and walking around.

"HELP!" I cried, trying to stick my hand through the hole to gain someone's attention. Luckily someone managed to see my signal and rushed over to help, calling her buddies to come too. The next few minutes were spent trying to get me free, and after another 10 minutes, I was able to heave the rock and rubble off of me and sit up, shaking from head to toe. I was quickly surrounded by medics and lifted onto a bed, only half conscious, from there it was a blur as they loaded me up into an ambulance and drove to the hospital.

I soon could wake up fully and that was when the panic set in. As one of the doctors came in I asked the question that had been burning to be let out as soon as the building exploded.

"How's Agent...I mean Max?"

"Who?

"Max...he was in the building with me, right next to me, you had to have found him"

"Do you have a last name so I could look him up?"

"Er...no, but he's a little taller than me, wavy dark brown hair, brown eyes, fit, please tell me you have seen a person like that today"

"I am sorry miss, I have not, but I will keep an eye out ok?"

"Ok...thank you"

"I'm just giving you a warning, if he was in that collapse, then he is most likely dead"

"Please don't talk like that"

"I'm just warning you not to get your hopes too high ok?"

"Yeah"

As soon as he left, I reached for my phone on the nightstand and scrolled through my contacts to find Agent White's number. However, I hesitated before calling and ended up hanging up before it even rang. Overwhelmed with emotion, I dropped my phone on the bed as tears streamed down my face. Though the doctor's prediction that Agent White didn't make it seemed likely, a part of me couldn't help but hold onto hope. After all, Agent White always had a trick or two up his sleeve.

A few weeks late the doctors gave me the word that I was free to go, I had had a cracked rib and fractured wrist. Jim had visited me the day before and given me a key to a spare apartment where I could live until I figured things out. To be honest I didn't know what to do, I had all my stuff, but the CIA was still in chaos after Alex and my cousin disappeared. The Mafia was still struggling with the total wipeout of one of their most significant money and weapon suppliers, and the only person that would understand all of this completely, people constantly told me was dead. So if you had asked me, no I wasn't doing well.

My luck changed, however, a week later.

I had started settling into a normal routine, taking Jim's advice to lay low until stuff cleared up. Although one night, I decided I had had enough of being inside all the time and was going outside. It wasn't anything extreme like going to a casino or anything just a simple walk around the block to get some fresh air.

I was halfway around the block when I felt a hand over my mouth and since a car was coming, I was dragged behind a pillar as it passed. Still struggling, I heard the soft words "Shush! Don't struggle, I'll take my hand off only if you promise not to scream" I quickly nodded my head, and when he had taken his hand off, I whirled around and gasped "AGENT WHITE!?"

"Sh..."

But he wasn't able to get much else out before I threw my arms around his neck and buried his face in his shoulder, feeling the tears start to well up in my eyes. Agent White returned the hug for a few minutes before backing away a bit and putting his hand gently on my cheek while tilting my head up and gently wiping away my tears.
"How are you...but I thought...everyone said" But Agent White quickly silenced me by putting his lips on mine, pulling me closer. When we finally separated he simply stated "I'm ok"

"But how did you get out?"

"I made it to the edge of the building and was protected by a couple of boards that fell against a more secure portion of the building"

"Why didn't you hang around or contact me, or something?"

"Because there were police there Rain, I'm still technically a criminal. Also, my phone got crushed in the whole, building exploding and almost crushing us thing"

I took a deep breath to calm myself down and smiled at Agent White. Agent White smiled back and planted another kiss on my lips before taking my hand and leading me back out onto the street where I was walking before. We walked back to where the entrance to my apartment was and before I went in Agent White pulled me close and looked me straight in the eyes, in countenance becoming serious "I need to talk to you, why don't you meet me for dinner tomorrow?"

"A date?"

"Uh...Yeah"

"Ok, where and what time?"

"Let's do the diner where the whole fainting episode happened, and say 6:00?"

I laughed "Ok, its a date, see you then"

With a final goodnight kiss, Agent White disappeared into the night.
