Undercover Love

Chapter 23

I quickly fix my hair, laying the curls gently over my shoulder, and stepped outside, immediately laughing as I saw Agent White pull up in a convertible. Getting inside I asked "You didn't have to rent this nice of a car for just a date" To which Agent White laughed "Oh no, this is my car"

"Wait really?"

"Yep, the Mafia is a pretty well-paying job if I do say so myself"

It wasn't long before we pulled up to the restaurant, got sat down, and ordered. After we got our food, Agent White finally started talking about his 'news'.

"So I've been doing a little snooping around, and turns out they caught your cousin"

"Really!?"

"Yes, he's waiting for trial and Rain, they were looking for you"

"They where? And you know how?"

"Simple, it was on the news, they didn't have a picture, but they did say they were looking for his cousin that was supposedly released from the hospital a couple of weeks ago"

"Why do they need me though?"

"Well, one of the reasons they saw was classified, but they need you to be a part of the trial as an eye witness to the things he did, even if it was just burning down that building you saw, that's enough to tie everything together for them"

I sat back hard "Really? Well I should probably try and get ahold of them, I wonder what the other reason is, hm"

"You look stunning by the way"

"You think? Do you recognize the dress?"

"No, am I supposed to?"

"Yes, it's the one I wore at the party, don't you remember?"

"Wait, sit up a bit...It is! In my defense, I wasn't really paying attention that day"

"Wow, that's new"

Agent White just chuckled before taking a bite of his food, after he swallowed, his expression became serious and he took my hand from across the table and leaned forward. 

"Rain listen, I've been thinking, I'm gonna turn myself in"

"What!? Why?"

"Well, I've done a lot of bad things since I joined, and I feel I gotta pay for them"

"But...what about us?"

"I'm not saying I don't want to be with you"

"I know, but...we've only just begun, can't it wait for a little bit?"

"No, I want to get it over with sooner, rather than later"

"Ok, you know what? I'll go in with you and see if I can't decrease your sentence, you did save my life, keep my secret, and help take down the man they have been hunting for a decade now"

"True, and don't forget my mom is Agent 22"

"That's right, but won't that arouse suspicion about the father?"

"Nope, I can say truthfully that I don't know about my dad"

"Well, you can count that I'll be right by your side"

Agent White did end up turning himself in and it was originally rumored that his time would be extremely wrong, but when the time came for the verdict. I was relieved to so a judge I had worked with before as an agent, so I trusted and knew well, as I had done lots of favors for her in the past I called her up the day before the trial and told her the true story, asking for her to at least take those things into consideration, which she told me she would.

When the day of the trial came, I'll have to admit I was nervous, but I was pleasantly surprised when, upfront, she told everyone she has spoken to officials, discussed deeply with them, and concluded only 8 months was a necessary punishment, seeing how he had helped catch someone they had been after for awhile, potentially saving enough lives in the future to make up for the lives he had taken in the past.

I had spoken to Agent White briefly when he had come out, revealing what I had done and said, all he did was just smile and nod his head in thanks as he was hauled off. In the meantime, to keep me busy, I contacted the people that were originally trying to find me and met up with them to see what the second reason was that they needed me.

As soon as we met up, they laid it out flatly and simply.

"We need you to be the new boss at the section that your cousin was in charge of" 

"Wait what?"

"Well, we looked at your records, no failed missions, perfect shot, exceeds in the fighting of all times, and does well in picking out new recruits. Honestly, you are the best agent we have, the fact that you were just a backup, says a lot about how much your cousin hates you"

"Wow...so, am just boss like that?"

"If you want the job, show up to the base in a week and I'll meet you there to start your training because I doubt you've run a headquarters for the CIA before"

"Well, I can tell you I want the job"

"Amazing! Meet me next week on Monday then at 7AM and we will start"
